I did post previously on my Hernia, when I first discovered it. Was asking about the operation and recovery. Here is the thread...

Thanks again for all the advice. Let me relate my experience. I went in 12/24 (thats right Thursday, Xmas eve) for a bilateral inguinal. The right side was apparant, the left was not but the Dr planned to examin it during the laproscopic proceedure. I was put under general anestesia with a breathing tube, in order to keep the diaphram still, and a cathater to keep the bladder flat. Ouch. I had the bilateral repaired (both sides inguinal) AND a umbillical which I had no symptoms of. Was awake 3hrs afterward and in 30min I was sent home. That nite the local and some meds helped. Next day I only did 1/2darvocet in the morning, didnt want to stay constipated. That day was rough (Christmas). Coughing, coughing, bowel movement were no fun! Still have an 'outty' in the umbillical site, which used to be an 'inny'. Im not happy about this alteration in my physique. But Dr said it would subside in about 8-12wks. I'll see...
Afterward...a couple days discomfort. I was instructed not to lift anything over 20lb for 4wks...and 6wks for any sort of workout. I knew I wouldnt adhere to that, and my surgeon knew as well that I would test myself early.
Was back at work as a Personal Trainer next Monday, 12/28. Made my clients lift the 45lbs on/off the bars...I spotted adequetly but didnt let any guys max lift super heavy. Next wk I was racking 45lbs no problem. That was wk2, worked out light at about 20-25% normal poundage, 15-20rep sets. VERY controlled breathing and NO bearing down. Week three is current...about up to 30%...smith machine bench 185x20...pulldown 150x15...DB lateral raise
30x20...no pain and controlled breathing, but maybe pushing a little more than the previous wk. I plan on next (wk4) just going to 35%...by wk6 will test myself a bit more. By wk8, going to turn it up and get back to 100% eventually. IF I remain painless...Im paying alot of attention to my body now.
BigTex gave me his program...it gave me confidance that I need not be idle.
I am getting pumps from the reps, staying solid and fit, and getting the endorphins going. I hate not lifting heavy, but that will come.
Thanks again guys for the posts preparing me mentally...I will continue to update. Hopefully I wont lift heavy too soon and end up with my intestines all over the gym floor!
