Idiopathic GHD in adults is rare, but I hate it when docs use that very phrase to discount the real possibility that you have it. "Oh, it's very rare so it's unlikely you have it." And then they won't do the test. There are quite a few cases where GHD can occur in adults, one being that the pituitary starts to fail or act erratically due to damage caused by hemochromatosis. I happen to fall into that category. I have had the IGF-1 tests, and they do indeed show that I'm low. The doc would NOT give me a script despite the test results literally because of my appearance. I'm not even half as big as many of the guys here, and yet he came to the conclusion that I "only wanted it for bodybuilding." No doc, I need it because I have a real need for it and would like some quality of life. Damn doctors.
