How bad off is my liver?

I've never had elevated values so I'm not sure how far off these are.

Just go off the orals. (??) They will come back. I've seen much higher values on here.

But they aren't good. Just not terrible. They could become terrible tho if you keep going in the wrong direction.

Impossible to know without getting a liver scan. ALT and AST mean nothing. You come off orals and both are in the normal range within two weeks.

yes, that is true.

i had some out of range values on blood tests (creatinine + alt, i think), dr kept re-testing then seen another dr one time and he asked me if i had trained hard the day before blood test. "that explains it then!"

What about the dreaded Tylenol/Alcohol combo? Moderate use of both has been linked to liver trouble. I worked for JnJ for years.

Did you have this test done on your own? If not, how concerned is your doctor?

have had 480, which is kidney failure, but luckily due to my age it all went back to normal after a week on 10l of fluids + diuretics(was at the hospital)

Resistance training does elevate liver enzymes BUT it raises AST more than ALT, so if ALT is the higher one, it is less likely from training. However this estimation is tricky because AST has a one day halflife, but ALT has a two day halflife.

Elevations of 2-3 times the normal range on liver enzymes isn't much of an immediate concern, you just don't want them staying that high, so give them a break and retest. Dangerous elevations would be 5-10x normal.

Liver Scan

A liver scan goes a long way for peace of mind. If you are on meds or drinking alcohol you want to consider that into the mix. I had my liver sonogram done and they checked everything in my abdomen. Painless and not expensive with insurance. I also had bloods done. The more thorough the blood panel the better.

my alt and ast were 96 and 40 a couple of months ago.i was using test 750 mg/week and deca 600mg/week for like 6 months,no orals were used. I came off everything except for a trt dose and rechecked 3 months later and they were both around 20,i forget the exact numbers.

Not to get to far off topic, but to all those who are always suggesting you need to get scans, how are you going about getting them. I dont know about you but my insurance doesnt like paying for unnecessary tests. Which i feel like they would consider full body scans of a healthy looking healthy feeling 32 year old male with no reason for it other than peace of mind... But also ive never asked, so.....

I clocked alt of 230 in dec came of gear
Because of doctor no pct at all
Or alcohol
Mid jan I was up to 340 still no signs of ill health
Feb 440 still no signs of ill health nor meds of doctor hospital just liver scan loads of test for hep abc aids scans for cancer finally in may saw my liver specialist first time in all this time I've seen one then got told alt was at 240
I tested 90 last month and specialist has removed me from his patients list and doctor said I no longer need to see him as my results are coming down
I still have no real idea what caused it
And because I couldn't run pct
I've been left looking like a fat mofo
With low test of 5.0 and and no sex drive

There are exceptions, the main one is scar tissue. Scar tissue in the liver gives off a chemical signal that tells the liver NOT to repair that tissue. This is called cirrhosis.

Another big exception is tumors and cysts, however these can be surgically removed and the liver may then repair itself, even if large portions are removed. These tumors become cancerous or cysts bursting and bleeding internally are the main concerns.

This info isn't directed at the OP, just a general FYI for everyone.
