I chopped off my fingertip

ok...long story short... the resturant got really busy, big party on the way in and the kitchen needed help. im no chef but i do what i can so i grabbed a knife and got chopping. im cutting shallots and all of a sudden the tip of my right ring finger almost became part of the main course. it was only hanging on by a small piece of skin and my first thought was"shit! i have to do arms tomorrow!" hahaha. so ..heres the funny part..... like a 4 yr old girl for some reason i get light headed,turn green and almost pass out. it didnt hurt and i have no idea why i reacted like this. my bartender and 3 waitresses are sitting in the bar fanning me with menu's trying to keep me from fainting. once the bleeding stopped i washed it out with alcohol, grabbed a tube of crazy glue, pushed the flap of flesh tight together and superglued by finger back in one piece. my gf is a nurse and in the er they use superglue quite a bit on minor injuries. but goddamnit if i didnt take it like such a pussy almost passing out.

Simular to what happened to me say 8 years ago

I was repairing a treadmill at a health club and for some reason i must have put my finger near a timing belt to test the tension. I have blocked the who thing out of mind till I read this. I can still use the finger 50 %. The sad things is when people all aske me what happened to my finger. It is like going up to a guy in a wheelchair and saying : " hey why are in the wheel chair . was it a war injury, did a car hit you etc". HOW RUDE. IT is none of their business. All it does is remind me of the accident. AL lot of rude people say to mey face how stupid I was and how I should be more careful. GEE thanks for the tip on safety.

I agree in hindsight that it was nothing compaired to Soldgiers loosing legs , arms etc but at the time that fingertip 1/3 a finger is a big deal.

Ok, bad j/k. Sorry to hear. I had a similar thing but involved a house door and they reattached it, but I was real young. The ral question is, did they still serve the food that you bled into?? "Don't worry about that red liquid it's just a new sauce that we're trying out"

i worked on a fishing boat and i saw a guy get his hand caught in the wench for when you haul the anchor. guy lost 4 fingers. brought the boat back in and they bolted his hand back together. its pretty amazing what they can do now a days. lol

i also chopped part of my thumb off filleting a fish too. that sucks. not so much painful with a sharp knife but just sucks. its hard filleting fish in 10ft seas lol. especially when your bleeding all over the place.

anyways hope that finger heals up nice. i passed out last time i got blood takin lol nuthign to worry about. lol

My nail separates from my finger from playing guitar too much. I just superglue it back together and I'm ready for the gig. Great stuff for self surgery.

i saw a girl do that once, on purpose, she took it like a champ..but im sure she has taken all sort of shit prior to that adventure in modification.

Interesting hand surgery fixes at My hospital !

I work at the same hospital that fixed me up 14 years ago. There were two real interesting cases recently: 1) one guy was an electrician who touched 440 volts and it blew all his fingers off. The Doctors took the remains of his fingers and placed them inside his body with access to blood etc and they grew back (somewhat) and the reattached 3 of them to his palm. IT now looks sort of like a Bird Claw on a Eagle. It aint pretty but i works for opening doors etc. He is also single. I told him to say he is a mutant from 3 mile Island. (I'm just kidding..I have lost 1/3 of my own finger).

Another guy got a cutting edge fake hand from his Elbow down where it was severed. He is lucky he didn't bleed to dealth. Oh yes, He was in a Bakery and for some reason He put his hand inside the giant mixer to get something with it running (It is his Right hand for handshaking) . When he goes to shake hands it freaks out people. The new experimental hand looks like the Terminator hand but in white plastic! If you saw the terminator movied Arnold cuts off the flesh in one scene to prove to some people he is a robot with all the moving parts. I told him they should make a "terminator edition in gold" colored plastic. He can freak out people and say he is a Terminator from the future and freak out his dates. He wears gloves alot and could be on a bad date and take off the glove to show the girl his terminator hand. The guy ha s good sense of humor.
