I need help with night time hunger during dieting

I can stick to a diet all day with no prolem, but at night i want to pig out. I've even sleep walked and eatin.

drink a glass of water...if you have to eat anything I would eat a piece of toast. Thats it. Water will fill you up

I agree.. 1oz almonds is more almonds than you think....

also some diet root beer is good....

root beer has no cafeine and seems to be filling..make it a double
 
Wont protein taken in this late be stored mostly as fat since you metabolism is slowed dramatically while you sleep? I wouldnt go that route, but Im outnumbered :)
 
casein protein drink is the way to go. But sometimes if your actually sleep walking it's going to be hard to combat your cravings. Lock your cabinets and leave some healthy food (like almonds) out on the counter for first grabs. I hope your not attacking the sweets because it is known to happen. Whatever diet you are trying to stick with make sure your not depriving yourself of the necessary foods that you need. Eventually your body will get acustomed to your new eating habits but you might have to ween it off some of the foods you were used to eating gradually.
 
last show i did...

i ate when i was hungry. just made sure i only ate the macro's that my diet consisted of (ie no cheating or junk food). i got very lean. i don't think eating at night while your metabolism is "slow" even matters. your metabolism will always be high if you are eating and exercising right. i was a furnace... -JS
 
I use a TBSP or two of natural peanut butter. Helps even when I'm craving sugar at night.
 
Both a casein protein shake or a Tbsp or natural peanut butter work pretty good. Those would be my two choices. Try them both. See which one works better for you. You can add a little cream to the casein shake if you're not competing. That will slow the digestion down a little more like the peanut butter.
 
I've done popcorn with a fake butter spinkle...forget the name, and a glass of water. The chewing helps to fool your brain into thinking you are full. And like the guys said...water fills you to some extent too.

protein would stabilize blood sugar most probably better than toast i would imagine:rolleyes:
 
Diet Root Beer is what I drank a lot of the time (something about it fills me up, maybe the carbonation in combo with the vanilla taste) and shoved like 2-3 hard boiled eggs down my throat when I was hungry beyond hungry!
 
I have to disagree with the peanut butter and casein shake suggestions. Peanut butter is high in calories, something you don't need at night while dieting, and shakes will rarely do much in the way of filling you up due to the fact that they are predigested. A huge plate of egg whites is low in calories, and will keep your body in an anabolic state for a long time. Sprinkle some milled flaxseed on the eggs, the fiber will expand in your stomach, and drink a big glass of water. You will be full, and not have damaged your diet..
 
My before bed meal is always a big problem for me. I eat, and go back to the fridge and keep eating.

I've pondered just skipping any meal and going straight to bed. I know I would lose muscle but my appetite is just stupid before I go to bed.
 
The Almond trick did wonders for my cravings but when I tried doing it the painfull way with only a glass of water, it was hell but my results was FAR BETTER! Drink a glass of cold water with 2 valuim tablets and that should do the trick, ok Im joking about the valuim tabs:p
