Crippling Ab cramps - need help

Happened to me two nights ago on my 3rd set of crunches, lasted a good 10-15 minutes and I woke up sore as hell the next day. This happens to me a lot during periods when I'm dieting hard, probably due to the lack of enough sodium (I went over my diet and realized I'm getting less than 2g of sodium a day). I have since started adding a 1/4 tsp of salt to two of my shakes + electrolyte drink with an additional 1/4, comes out to around 1.8 additional sodium, hope this sorts it out...

I get these all the time @scmtnboy
Onnnly my abs, and basically in any hard ab work annndd then it might hit later in the day too. I have noticed that it’s much worse in the morning (say I’m doing cardio + abs) versus if I try and add some ab work later in the afternoon. I DO take my telmisartan ED upon waking AND I do have the high potassium from telmi.

It’s debilitating and painful lol. Makes me not wanna train my abs at allll. I’ve upped my magnesium and sodium because of this, which doesss help some. I’m actually waiting for some bloodwork results so it’ll be interesting to see where potassium is at the moment.
Always love when I go in the gym specially for cardio and abs, and then they cramp hard after literally one set

Happens every now and then, I drink shit tons of water and electrolytes too. Sometimes I wonder if being too dry and lean exasperates this
Lots of times after training, bis and tris, legs, pecs, and lats will cramp too. Even if I hadn’t been training them

I've been having bad muscle cramps everywhere lately. Bloods show kidneys and electrolytes are fine.
The worst ones are in the pecs where it ties in to front delts and forearms. Although I am getting them in most muscles. Mainly when I go from not moving to moving.

I used to get terrible ab cramps. Turns out there was a tear above my bellybutton that turned into a hernia. Once it was repaired I’ve had no issues.

I'm telling you guys. Go het some mustard pack and bring them with you every where. Take 2 packs when your cramping and it's almost instant relief

Bloodwork electrolytes are just a snapshot in time. Try increasing your intake around training.

While I’m glad you’ve found it works for you, I’d say there’s definitely better options for electrolyte replenishment than mustard.

It's happening throughout the day as well! Which is becoming extremely frustrating. It's not something I've ever experienced for. Just sitting down an reaching out for a drink, my forearm delt and chest will cramp up

Have you run inflammatory markers such as CRP, ferritin and SED rate?

Using taurine, magnesium and electrolytes daily for most will solve this. Unless it’s rooted deeper to something such recovering from being sick, inflammation, long haul COVID or autoimmune issues.

In some cases it could be as simple as needing a de-load to lower CK levels and inflammation.

Appreciate the reply!
Had it all checked except the sed rate.

I need to restart taurine and see if that helps. It's been going on a couple week now but started out of no where.

I was wondering if it's some how linked to the thoracic outlet syndrome but not sure why it would cause cramping in muscles in the lower body as well.

Are you on a beta blocker or any meds by chance? Feel free to DM if you’d prefer to discuss there.
