I've been suffering from sinus congestion for quite a while now. I'm looking for a strong decongestant.. something stronger than afrazine (I've built an immunity to afrazine). Any help/advice will be appreciated.
How long have you been congested? Chronic congestion likely needs to be treated with somehting other than a decongestant.
Do you have a sinus infection? If you snot is bloody, or has some green/yellows in it than you likely have an infection. You need antibiotics for this (try a Z-Pak).
Do you have allergies? Try Claritin (over the counter) and see if your symptoms improve. This is a non-sedating anti-histamine and if it helps than your congestion is likely related to allergies. This can be treated with nasal steroids and leukotriene inhibitors.
I am not familiar with afrazine, but if it is an OTC sinus spray, they should not be used chrnoically. They will stop working and can cause rebound congestion.
I just noticed your other post on this subject. If you are suffering from wheezing, shortness of breath, tight chest, etc, then you likely have asthma.
What is the chemical name of the Affrizine that you are taking?

I dont have asthma... I've been told that I have allergies although my allergy tests proved otherwise.
I've learnt to live with it to a certain degree but my main concearn is the effect it has on my voice. It's hard to explain, but I feel like I have to exert myself to speak just to be heard and sometimes I stumble or slightly slur my words unintentionally (I talk like I have a blocked nose constantly).
I had a polypetomy op 6 months ago which didnt help at all.
I'm looking for something strong and it doesnt have to be over the counter.
Oxymetazoline is not meant for chronic use. I would recommend you find a good ENT or Otolaryngologist specialist to do a consult. Next stop after that would be find a board certified Allergist.

well, my ENT specialist closed my file after the first op. He insists that I'm fine eventhough he was reluctant to show me my x-rays to prove so.
I really need something for a little while, until I find a new ENT consultant. I'm certain that I need another op, I just need something to control the symptoms right now.
