I did a heavy back workout this morning. Rows, pulldowns, etc - all pretty heavy. I was wearing my straps, as I always do for back workouts and everything seemed fine. Then, an hour or so after I finished working out, I noticed the back of my left hand was bright red and had even redder dots on it. It starts at the wrist and goes all the way down to my fingernails.

Then, another hour or so and the back of my hand started to turn blue. It looks like a bruise, but I didn't bang it. Now, it's tingly - like that "pins and needles" feeling when your hand falls asleep. It's still discolored and hurts also.

Was my strap too tight? Anyone ever have this before? It hurts even to make a fist now!:confused:
 
Well, sounds like you either popped a blood vessel or tore a tendon, or muscle. I know that doesn't narrow it down too much but it could be any of those. I know when I do heavy deadlifts the straps tear my wrists up. I've popped a few small blood vessels doing that. Your's sounds like something bigger than that though.
 
Had the same thing about a year ago after deadlifts all was good in two days just a few blood vessels. but dont take my word as gold . try soaking it in absun salt for a few it will help the dis coloration good luck bro
 
Went to bed last nite in some pain, but when I woke up this morning hand felt and looked much better. So, I went to the gym (chest day) and all is well. Still a little discolored so I'm thinking you guys are right - some ruptured blood vessels...

Hey Coop, ya gotta watch overtraing yer hands man....yya can't masterbate the night before deadlifting or for that matter any back exercises, your hands need atleast one day rest:D
You can however masterbate before any push workouts like chest, shoulders cause it doesn't work the same muscles...See?? it the little details that make the big difference:p LOL

LOL...my thoughts exactly:)
 
get the same thing in my fingers. i get red dots usually. its broken blood vessels from those straps being so tight around the wrists. force the blood pressure in your hand.
