Been lifting seriously for little over a year. I'm a natty.... not that it makes much of a difference. Well im not real big on introduction so i have nothing else to really say. Oh yeah im 6'3 245. Would like to compete some day but right now im just having a good time and growing.

The ones in the black shorts were from a couple months ago but they were the only ones that had a leg shot...

heres some recent clips from the gym doing deads...

My FIRST thought.... are you a bodybuilder or a powerlifter? Either way tho.....drop that weight and get your form right, your form is terrible.... that lower back is so rounded out its only a matter of time before you blow it out, especially with that kind of weight. You will get a better workout with 4 plates strict for 8-10. Flatten that lower back, butt down, chest out.

Have to agree with Phil, for only 1 year of training you look damn good.

Very lean yet muscular... a great base to work on.

Keep doing what you have been cause it's obviously working :)

I wish I looked like that after one year of lifting. Like you, I am taller, 6'1'', also young. It will take longer for us to put on muscle and fill out than it would for shorter guys. Just stick with it, you have a great base. I agree with the others about the deads. Keep your back straight and don't bounce the weight on the bars at the bottom. Treat a set of six like doing six singles, for example. Reset after each rep and make sure your form is right and you are ready. Anyway, good work and good luck!

Hey MM, welcome bro. Now I have to agree with other here. Your form on those deads is dangerous. You need to drop your hips and drive the bar from the legs/hips first. Here is a technique i teach all my young lifters. it's called "first pull". Position yourself as you would for the start of a normal dead. Just before you pull the bar off the floor drop your hips down and straighten your back. Drive the bar off the floor with just your hips and legs and pull to just above the kneecaps, no higher. Then return. The bar should move at the same time as your hips and butt. if you pull your butt up first this is not correct. It will strengthen your hips/low back and quads. Do this with a light enough weight to get your form right. This exercise will wear you down pretty quick and make you realize your hips and legs are not as strong as they should be. But overall you look good for one year of lifting. Tons of potential.

Nice progress for one year bro.

You are well on your way to filling out your frame.

thanks guys for the welcome and comments/critque. I was looking over the vids and see exactly what you guys are talking about.... i need to sink my hips and focus on keeping my chest up and slowing down/focus on each rep. Thanks oldfella im gonna try that "first pull" technique. And yes filling out my frame is the number one goal right now... mainly the upper body my legs seems to grow faster than anything else but it really just comes down to more size everywhere. im trying to make the best out of this next year since its my last year on shore duty and then after that i will be going on a boat for 4 years :( . Eventually will step on stage some day but im not in a hurry. Anyways looking forward to being a member of this site.

filling out my frame is a long task though.... i was 175 pounds augest 2006 and thought i would looked jacked at my current weight but when your tall it doesnt work out quite like you expected. :( oh well just gotta keep on grinding

Well I think you look jacked for your height. And your weight is nothing to "scoff" at. And natural on top of that!!

I also wanted to say thank you for your service to our country.

Thanks for the kind words but i dont think i looked "jacked" yet..... i guess everyone else on this site has that same problem im sure.... bigorexia.

Its my pleasure man..... even though i dont feel like im doing anything yet... i'm on shore duty right now so its basically like a normal 9-5. But i do have to go out on the boat for a couple of weeks tomorrow.. and im not looking forward to it.... the flight deck gets pretty hectic at times.

Glad to have you on board bro. PM is THE PLACE to be. Looks like you're off to a great start!

your brother in Christ,

Lucky

GREAT BODY FOR JUST GETTING ROLLING!

YOU ARE STRONG! I'D AGREE THOUGH...DON'T USE THAT STRENGTH TO MESS YOUR SELF UP. I'D TRY TO MAKE SURE NOT TO ROUND THAT BACK ON THOSE DEADS. YOU LOOK LEAN AND VERY GOOD...NOT KNOCKING YOU....EXCELLENT JOB THUS FAR! JUST BE CAREFUL.

Thanks man!

Thanks.... good looking out.... i know that im young and if i keep doing it like that injury is bound to happen so i really appriciate the advice that everyone is giving me.

good weight but all I have to say is you are lucky you're young. I have a terrible lower back and really keeps me from doing certain exercises that I used to love doing and if I did 1 rep with that form or even did the whole set with perfect form and just at the very end of the set to put the weight down I rounded my back like that I wouldn't be able to walk for at least a week. Matter of fact I'm gonna go ice my back now and go see my chiro just from watching that. Seriously be careful. Once you hurt your back once you will really regret not sacrificing weight for perfect form. You don't realize how much having an injured back effects everything

In the NAVY, obviously. Whats your rate, how long you been in, where you stationed? I was in Coronado, I just got my Honorable in July.

yupp... im an AM (Airframe Mechanic)... im a PC (plain captain) at the moment. Im stationed up in Whidbey Island Washington. Your lucky man i was in coranado.... im orignally from so cal.
