I was talking to Magnum today, and we were going over my prep, ect...and we got on the subject on striated glutes, and how it was more of a genetic thing than anything else..I mean you see guys with striated glutes, but then there upper backs are smooth, or there delts are smooth, ect, ect...So my question is this...What would you rather have....???

A. Striated to hell glutes, but your upper back is slightly soft (and I mean just slightly, not like Nasser or Dillets was) Just not grainy hard, not like yates or Flex...Kinda in the middle...So your glutes are rock hard (think Flex Lewis hard or even now Shelby hard)...Your front side is crazy hard, abs crisp, chest striated to hell, ect, ect...but your back is softer than the rest of you...

or

B. Glutes just boxed out, but your back grainy hard, and the rest of you grainy to hell...Think Chris Cormeir back in what 98 or so ? Nice and full, pretty damn grainy but not striated glutes...Everything is even thoughout your body...

Just curious as to what everyone says

B. because the judges are looking more at your back then glutes imo.
 
Do you have a example of someone with striated glutes & back off? I haven't seen it.
 
if i hadto pick id go wiht B. its more about the total package more than one single wow factor. Phil didnt have striated glutes and he did pretty good in the sport...lol

Give me a day to find a pic...Im thinking like Dillet or Nasser...But Nasser glutes werent really crazy striated, I guess...
 
my 2 cents

having striated glutes is not worth the loss of muscle fullness bodywide.
 
Chris, hands down it has to be a rock hard back, I think most judges will overlook the glutes for a very solid back. Remember you flex and show your back in almost all of your poses compared to your glutes.
 
B. for the win alex! ha ha def harder back, i think too much empahsis is put on glutes these days. shawn ray didn't have shredded glutes at every show, lee priest didn't have them, flex didn't achieve them every show, cormier, levrone, and look at the quality of physiqe of those guys. I think there should be a distinct seperation between the glutes and the hamstrings but all out striations i don't see as that important. But these days if you going to compete on a national level then you better bring the stiated glutes cause its the first thing they look at when you turn to the rear.
