Knee wraps how big of an advantage

Do you guys believe in using knee wraps?
I have guys at the gym tell me all the time to not use them bc u r weakening ur tendons ect. ect. I use them during my heavest set, how big of an advantage does one have over another with knee wraps concerning weight used during squatting? Does knee wraps give a person a huge advantage strength wise when squating as to not wearing any?

i wold ask the guys at the gym exactly "how a knee wrap weaken the tnedon?"

you are just fine man, knee wraps are used for protecting the knee fromm injury, they provide compression on the joint making it more stable...
 
On my heaviest sets....I'd use them.

I wrap with a bent knee....and not tight. Just semi-snug....

"AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION IS WORTH A POUND OF CURE"........lot of truth right there.

i only use on squats and only after i have over 315 on the bar.
 
do you're heaviest set without them then you will have you're answere .Are these the same things that Dorian Yates used to say if he put a spring under your ass while squating you would lift more weight but would that weight be lifted by the muscles involved ?

HE WRAPS HIS KNEES.
 
When you start training I think you dont need them, but as time goes on and we get a little older. After all those years of working out we need a little extra support.

Bump that, anything over 365 they get wrapped. There are varying degrees of wrapping....for me I go light wrap at 365 / 405, then medium tightness at 455 / 475, super tight for anything 495 and up......Thtas also squatt below parrallel...not that high squat stuff
 
No need for knee wraps unless you compete in equipped power lifting. I train 100% raw all the time.
 
Knee Sleeves!

i just put ..knee sleeves on for tightness and pain reduction! Wrapping is for achieving more weights with the spring action!
 
The use of knee wraps will NOT weaken tendons. This is incorrect info. They will cause compression of your patella over the joint causing the synovial fluid to be pushed out from under the kneecap. This then produces a bone on bone effect when squatting. Not the best overall scenario. But if you only use them for ultra heavy single or triples then no harm done. Do not use them all the time.
 
i use raps for all my squats, hacks, presses, only on my work set, just snug,

it does let you lift a little more, but remember with BB'ing your just concerned about adding more weight to the bar each week, not how much more you can lift than your mate
 
Do not use any wraps or belts squatting. Always felt too restricting putting that stuff on.
