Lack of Energy

Does anyone here really lack energy? I'm 26 and I am always exhausted. I am not overtraining and I have a healthy diet, but I am always tired. My job entails me to do a lot of desk work, but I'm always moving about throughout the office building. I usually go to bed around 9pm and wake around 6am. However, I become very exhausted after only a short time at work. I have been this way for a few years now and have depended on Speed Stack drinks to get me through my workouts. This is the only caffeine I consume as I am not a coffee or pop drinker. I am on Effexor right now which is an ssri but fatigue is not a side effect, in fact isomnia is. I don't even have the energy or desire to even go out that much because I know I will be tired and miserable and want to go home early in the night..Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was like that and was checked for sleep apnea, come to find out I had severe sleep apnea and was only getting 1.3 hours sleep in an 8 hour period of time. Now that I have a Cpap machine it's allot better.

Well Marty. Just so you know. I took Effexor and felt the same way you did. If you look at the drug information, they trick you with the term insomnia being reported and then asthenia. Asthenia is a complete lack of energy and occurs in about 5% of people on this med.
What dose are you taking. If it's 150mg per day or above, this lack of energy gets worse. So, I would think it may be the medication. Unlike it's cousins, Prozac and Paxil, Effexor is not really an SSRI. It's a SNRI, which tends to motivate some to insomnia while it brings down others. I would suggest talking to your health care provider about switching meds first of all. Don't go cold turkey on this one, it has nasty withrawal symptoms that this and SSRI's don't report.
But on the other hand: a lack of energy could mean that the depression or anxiety that you're using Effexor for isn't working. Lack of energy is one of the key symptoms of depression.
Other ones include: Loss of interest in activities you enjoy, guilt, suicidal thoughts, loss of concentration, loss of sleep/oversleeping, change in appetite, agitation.
If you have any four of the list plus a saddened mood more days than not over the last two to six months, you should prolly follow-upwith your health care provider.

yes im the same way. i also think its sleep anea. i can sleep standing up man. i hate it. at night tho i never wake up although im sure i stop breathing and never get in any deep sleep but i dont wake up. however when i try to NAP during the day, i cant. i gasp for air.
