lateral raises only for delts?

Been doing lateral raises only WITHOUT any overhead pressing movements for about 3 months now after reading thus thread & all my shoulder pains have gone away. :headbang:

I like focusing on db laterals and cables laterals for rear and side delts first then every other week throw some dumbell presses in or hammer strength machine presses unilaterally.

Military presses work mostly the front delt, but on some people the side delts get worked to. One of my friends have crazy side delts, and all the ever did was barbell military presses 5x5. Personally I feel that using Dumbells instead work more of the side deltoids.

The great thing about the millitary press is that you can use heavier wights to induce myofibrillar hypertrophy, for me this is better, because when I cut I tend to lose sarcoplasmic muscle gains quicker. Using heavy weight with lateral raises is only smart if you have healthy shoulders IMO

Remember to train rear delts allot so you don't injure you rotator cuff in the long run

The problem is that the shoulder girdle isn't designed for heavy pressing—it's made for pulling and hanging.

Not a fan of overhead pressing. Lateral raises, rear delt raises and upright rows all work great.

For those of you doing only side laterals with great results, how many sets do you do for them?

I've had rotator cuff issues lately, had some graston done, went away and now I do a shit ton of lateral raises for my shoulder work outs and my pumps are better, I'm still getting growth, and feel comfortable not having to worry about injury. If I do any presses it's not heavy at all

Love military presses... all kinds... I feel like thevr all contributed to my delt growth which have not been easy to grow at all.. (Narrow clavicles)

I'm a firm believer that rear delt contributes to a lot of that 3D look but your meat and potatoes are always gonna be heavy pressing.

That's like saying you can build a good chest with just flys. This might be the case for someone with a natural propensity for a good chest but someone who was not so lucky definetly needs to press. Just my thoughts

This has been a great thread for me. I am for sure going to take out presses, and see how it goes. Maybe help with my shoulder pain.

don't have any shoulder issues, but I am young.

I think ill heed the older folk's advice and cut OH pressing out while im ahead

ill keep my incline BB though ;)

side laterals and rear laterals only for now... see how this works
