hey fellas.
Do any of you have alot of lower back pain? I did heavy legs last week and ever since I did i have had a ton of pain. I did heavy legs last Friday and also went on a 4 hour road trip last weekend. So could it be the combination of both or what? And does somebody have any special movements i could try to relieve the pain? thx bros

Hey bro, I have a lot of lower backpain too. Its pretty constant. I wake up with it. Its not insane but it is to the point where I cant do deads coz it just hurts too much. Not on any orals. Had kidneys checked and the are working A+ so I just assume its my lower back. Since I have a deskjob it might just be bad posture over the years.

The best thing that helps (aside from Deca :D) is doing reverse crunches, you know, that machine which makes you lean at a 45 degree angle, your legs are straight and are moving from a bowing position upwards. Not sure what the machine is called.......But anyway, I just do a whole bunch of these and lots of reps and once the blood if flowing in the lower back it feels MUCHO better. Hope that helps.

cool i will try... thx

Bro im battling lower back pain as we speak.. Im seeing an Orthopaedic, who gave me a shot of Kenalog 2 wks in a row along with Flexirol 3x Daily for a wk and i feel pretty dam good but i still dont go crazy and watch how i bend and lift and pick things up.. I just had a bone scan performed yesterday and wont have results until Monday.. I had x-rays done and that only showed i had a little arthritis in my back so the bone scan will pick up any fractures/ bone spurs/ compressions of discs..

As far as special movements to releive the pain i think yur gonna have to rest bro and take it easy. Try icing it 20min. on then switch 20min with a Heating pad . Maybe see yur GP and get a script for some muscle relaxers .. I kno u wanna train and screw rest but yur only gonna jam yurself up even worse.. lmk how u make out

Since its invoked through training it's probably under developed erector spinae muscles. You can try adding hyper extensions & good mornings to your weekly routine. I had this same issue in my teen years every time I squat or DL. I fixed it in around 3 months time by only adding hyper extensions on back day, and one independent day (not back or leg day) doing 3 burn out sets to failure using body weight only.

just picked up some felxirols last week and they make me feel drowsy

Back Pain

I'm pretty sure that this is a topic that most on this board can contribute or relate too. LBP can be caused by so many things. If chronic, I would highly suggest getting the x-rays and MRI of the lumbar spine right away. This will most likely show the contributers of the problem. In most cases I've seen, the major contributors are: weak core muscles (tranverse abdominis, multifidus, rectus abdominis, obliques) Tight hip flexors and psoas, and tight hamstrings and glutes. All these contributors combined conventional training gives significant strain on lower back. Then considering the deep spinal muscles that are likely in a state of constant spasm, traditional physical therapy seems ineffective. You cant massage muscle thats 4" deep.

What I do with my clients is first stopping the irritation by temporarily removing certain exercises, squats, deads, hypers, running, etc. Incorporate strategic stretching plan, then if still not better after consistent effort, Injections of Botox. This has done magic for so many people. But, again it depends on the cause of pain. But usually spasm is the problem. By injecting botox deep into the muscles, the muscles finally release to allow the exercises to work. Beyond that, epidurals work well when the disks are the issue. From my experience, most of us older lifters have beaten up our lower backs pretty bad with all those big deadlifts, cleans, and squats. Usually the disks of L-4,5-S-1 are to blame.

By the way, I'm no doctor but only an old time lifter who has suffered from LBP for 25 years. This has been working very well. best of luck to all, no need to suffer. Peace:)

Don't know how strong you are but heavy weights compressing the spine will lead to vertebral pain/wear in those prone to it over time or sooner rather than later. If you don't have a perfectly straight spine, red flag to anything compressing your spine vertically. (uneven load distribution) Idem for uneven leg lengths

I managed to get myself 2 herniated discs with 3 plates on the squat bar. Imagine me doing 6 plates like some guys on here. That would probably be the last thing I'd ever do standing upright. My next gym visit would be to the gym smoothie bar in a wheelchair rofl

Just one more aspect of genetics, some guys can endure wear and tear just so much better than others.

I had back surgery twelve years ago this year and spent the better part of the last two and a half years back and forth from the neuro surgeons again trying to figure things out. I've been back lifting now for about four and a half months, doing things smart but when I do hams they tighten up after a workout and it gives me terrible back pain. I know it's spasms but they are extremely painful and sometimes debilitating. Stretching is the only thing that helps and it should be done before and after this type of routine. At your age, become as limber as you can. You will be doing yourself a favor that you can't possibly imagine the rewards of years down the road....I wish I would have listened when I was your age!! By the way, long car rides kill my back as well....Good Luck!!!

What exactly happened between the surgery and the last few years Bio? Just got pain again for no apparent reason or?

cool thx bros...
ya i have been doing stretches and i woke up today and it feels much better... im going to take another week off lifting and then get back on it

The rest will do you good Bro! Heavy squats and presses put alot of stress on the body! Especially your back!

Acupunture

Anyone can call BS on this b/c Im no expert, but I've read acupuncture is supposedly great for sciatica and other lower back issues.

Try resting and relaxing for a few days. ALEVE works wonders for me when I have back pain.

Some of you with back pain also notice your posture is affected at times when having more pain? Like standing crooked when having pain?

Lay on the floor on your side. Raise your leg up and down with a slight bend in your leg
