Back Pain
hey fellas.
Do any of you have alot of lower back pain? I did heavy legs last week and ever since I did i have had a ton of pain. I did heavy legs last Friday and also went on a 4 hour road trip last weekend. So could it be the combination of both or what? And does somebody have any special movements i could try to relieve the pain? thx bros
I'm pretty sure that this is a topic that most on this board can contribute or relate too. LBP can be caused by so many things. If chronic, I would highly suggest getting the x-rays and MRI of the lumbar spine right away. This will most likely show the contributers of the problem. In most cases I've seen, the major contributors are: weak core muscles (tranverse abdominis, multifidus, rectus abdominis, obliques) Tight hip flexors and psoas, and tight hamstrings and glutes. All these contributors combined conventional training gives significant strain on lower back. Then considering the deep spinal muscles that are likely in a state of constant spasm, traditional physical therapy seems ineffective. You cant massage muscle thats 4" deep.
What I do with my clients is first stopping the irritation by temporarily removing certain exercises, squats, deads, hypers, running, etc. Incorporate strategic stretching plan, then if still not better after consistent effort, Injections of Botox. This has done magic for so many people. But, again it depends on the cause of pain. But usually spasm is the problem. By injecting botox deep into the muscles, the muscles finally release to allow the exercises to work. Beyond that, epidurals work well when the disks are the issue. From my experience, most of us older lifters have beaten up our lower backs pretty bad with all those big deadlifts, cleans, and squats. Usually the disks of L-4,5-S-1 are to blame.
By the way, I'm no doctor but only an old time lifter who has suffered from LBP for 25 years. This has been working very well. best of luck to all, no need to suffer. Peace
