MaxOut/ Tricep video created for Pro Muscle

No joke

I know the video is really grainey, and it unfortunately it does not get in close enough on the wieghts to even show what's going on. I need to get a better recording device then my digital camera.

In the first part I am close grip pressing 275 and in the press down I am pressing 425. I wish the rest of the workout would have posted with it. Our work out is modeled after "doggcrapp" The close grip was long beacause I was doing a drop set that day.

Any way the best day will be the leg and bench.

Not a very good joke, that weight stack in the back is right in view. I dont understand why you posted this.

WTF

im just trying to figure out why???

I have to honest here....I'm not impressed. I do not see the point of doing assisted reps from rep one. I regularly close grip that weight unassisted for reps 8-10 and no resting on the stops. If I want to do negs I do just that with my training partner. I'm not sure I get the concept of how these machines are going to provide any more or less stimulus for training. The range of movement on the pushdowns was only half range and how can you say you were doing 425 when the machine was assisting. I'm not trying to give you a hard time but I don't see the point. If you can't genuinely use those poundages with a full range movement then it is too heavy. Just not overly impressed that's all. I'm giving you my honest opinion to what I was viewing.

the concept is overloaded negatives and assisted positive portion of the rep. quite revolutionary. i wish i had access to the equiptment around here.

DB and the rest

First off I am getting married in two weeks so I look fat and bloated. At 18% I more resemble a character from the first ghostbusters movie.

DB is correct and you all are correct. I should be a lot stronger but I am still recovering from the chostachondrial separation.

To someone's point they regularly do reps without stop of that weight that I was doing. You just pointed out the best part and why I use the machines - I can't lift that weight but I can get the negative ,where all of you know you are much stronger, that is where the assist comes in.

So I am being challenged all the way through. Is this the only way to train NOT AT ALL. This is a forum with pears I respect and in the case of some idolize, that I am showing something new. No proclamations that is why I am making these personalized and only posted here.

Not videotaped where the skull crushers with the assistance. My entire workout for my triceps was 3 different sets with a warm up and work. Maximum results and maximum effort in the least amount of time.

I learned that here!

Form

YEah and the form on the pressdopwn, I was trying to do to much for the video. Common trying to show off thing.....

Interesting

Definitly has some potential, especially for people who train alone.

I would use it a bit differently, Say your 10RM was 300pnds for that exercise then I would use 300pnd on the positive portion and just 330pnds on the negative and still get 10 reps. Just enough to make it a little bit harder. I would never use less weight on my positive than I am capable of. Loading up huge negatives and then only pushing small positive weight seems pointless.

My 2 cents.

i agree 100%, that is the way i would use these machines. i would also like to see some kind of "assisted" pullup machine using this technology. of course, it would have to exactly opposite of the assisted pullup machine, but you get the idea.

That is how we do it

THat is how we do it I do 100% of each movement. You guys are so right on my terminology is off.

As far as machines I have one for everything in the world.

Lat Pull down
Bench Press
Incline Press
Leg Extension
Leg Curl
Curl
Tricep Press Down
Seated Row
Leg Press

In fact if you have any machine , movement, our machines can be attached. Any bar or free bar can be attached. You guys saw the bench and the press down.

I will show you my back tomorrow.

I did bicep today and I will be posting that later.

I hope you all have a good evening and I will talk to you in the morning.

Very cool

Ive heard machines like this talked about in theory but never seen anyone make them.

However, I think these ideas are better used for powerlifting than bodybuilding.

Strength is highly CNS based and allowing your body to experience maximum strain on both the negative and positive would probably have some benefit at times but would need to be used sparingly due to the fact that overtrain can occur MUCH EASIER.

Was this designed for bodybuilding or powerlifting? If for bodybuilding, what is the benefit of doing this as apposed to doing a second set if more stimulation is what you are after?

Very interesting none the less. I'd Like to see more videos.

Is the weight changing on the positive portion of the movment as the set progressed? it looks like it was getting lighter in order to prolong the set?

Hey 5footer, thanks for that, I am very curious about this. that is why I reponded. I wasn't actually refering to you, I though you looked alright. You certainly don't look fat! I was just trying to paint a mental picture in my head of how this thing works. I have always been a full range of motion trainer myself. I can see the stacks working in the background. I also see some of the safety benefits of working alone. I am the world's biggest skeptic when it comes to "New and Improved". So on the close grip you were getting an assist from the stack while pressing and loaded negs while lowering, is that the way it works? It is an interesting concept!

Both of you exactly

Yeah I first started telling people "new and improved" and that was the wrong way to go about it. The right way was like this...tell people I know and then see what they think.

Oldfella you are exactly correct. So I couldn't lift the 275 by myself in a close grip position. So the stack in the back is on a counterbalance lifting (assisted) the wieght through the press. Not making it easy, just enough so I can move it.

For the likes of Big A, Hernon, and most others on here I don't see this being the only thing. For sports athletes and power lifter I do

Conan 21 you are correct. A breakdown of my close grip set:

Main Weight Helping Weight Reps
275 40 2
275 60 2
275 80 2
275 100 2

The reson you get more help is you can still lower the heavy neg weight, but you are taking yourself so much you get fatigue rather quickly.

My question is, you are doing your two reps at 275. Those reps are done, how is the next assisting weight applied, does this happen automatically, like a spotter would gently take a little more weight as the set progresses or does some one need to make adjustments to the stack as you progress to achieve the 60, 80 then 100 assist? Knid of like an auto spotter!

Unimpress!!!!
