I have been on keto for years. Always kept me tight.
I hear many on this form mention how metformin inhibits gluconeogenesis.
Maybe I don’t fully understand gluconeogenesis but what I understand is it is as the process of which amino acids AND fatty acids are released into the bloodstream. With this said, and if this is actually the correct definition of gluconeogenesis, would then, metformin be a bad option on keto? With keto we want to burn those FFA.
Under the same assumption, then would it be an even worse idea to take metformin before fasted cardio, as so called FFA would not be available to be burned for fuel?
I personally have loved metformin to help stay lean, but wonder if my fasted cardio sessions are being waisted taking metformin immediately before them.
