:( Well I have a pituitary microadenoma. I will have to go for MRI every 4 months to monitor any growth and begin HRT within the next 4 weeks. I was refferd to see an ophthamologist also, due to some visual disturbances I am been having as the optic nerve may be compromised by the microadenoma.

Dragonfire,

Let me say first how sorry I am to hear that. I hope everything goes well. Do you have a family history of these types of things or do you think it could be AAS related? Again, very sorry to hear. Let me know if we can do anything for you.

OTH

Wow, best wishes and good luck with it.

I am really sorry to hear about this. I will be praying and thinking about you...Keep us posted for sure..

Very sorry to hear that. Before you use any more Nolvadex, (if you do use Nolvadex) read up about it as I remember reading somewhere that it would cause eye damage. Did the doc give you and idea of how much danger you are in, and what it could have been from?

After doing some research I found the following:

Genetic abnormalities that cause brain tumors are not usually inherited but mostly occur as a result of environmental insults or other factors that affect genetic materials (DNA) in the cells. Researchers are studying a number of environmental assaults that might trigger brain tumors in susceptible individuals. Among them are the following:

Abnormal development in the womb.
Viruses.
Hormones.
Chemicals.
Ionizing radiation.
Electromagnetic fields.

My own conclusions:

I have not done any AAS in almost 3 years. My experiences have been moderate cycles 600-800mg test 400mg deca lasting 10-12 weeks on then off for about 3 years between 23-26 years of age. With low GH dosages 2iu ed 6month on 6 month off to some up an average.

I don’t really think AAS prompted the tumor growth. Maybe massive amounts of IGF-1 could have from research, but I never really used any.

My theory is a person is born with a predisposition to develop certain types of disease. They may never develop that disease, but certain environmental factors can trigger it under the right conditions. From research I have done tumors cannot develop in an alkaline and oxygen rich environment.

I have been oxygen deprived for the past two years, due to my sleep apnea, under large amounts of stress increasing oxidation in the body causing free radicals, in addition my diet has been poor the last year causing an acidic environment. Plus I had a parasite about 2 years ago that just through my body totally off that cause extreme amount of stress on my body. I think if I had a predisposition all these environmental assaults triggered the tumor growth.

If it's any comfort, microadenoma is benign. I always thought that they were pituitary specific which would make it fairly large to effect the visual cortex or the occiptal lobe. Not my area but I'm interested in hearing your progress and prognosis.

Take care of yourself.

Yes, also very small.

I always thought that they were pituitary specific which would make it fairly large to effect the visual cortex or the occiptal lobe.

From looking at diagrams and some research I found the optic chiasm, the optic nerve fibers are compressed causing visual field loss.

Here is some infomation below a diagram in the 1st Link and a study on prognosis for visual impairment from chiasmal compression on the 2nd Link.

visual pathway

As the optic nerve leaves the back of the eye, it travels to the optic chiasm, located just below and in front of the pituitary gland (which is why a tumor on the pituitary gland, pressing on the optic chiasm, can cause vision problems). In the optic chiasm, the optic nerve fibers emanating from the nasal half of each retina cross over to the other side; but the nerve fibers originating in the temporal retina do not cross over.
From there, the nerve fibers become the optic tract, passing through the thalamus and turning into the optic radiation until they reach the visual cortex in the occipital lobe at the back of the brain.

Visual field loss, caused by optic nerve damage, is measured by using a “visual field analyzer” or “perimeter.” The procedure is known as “perimetry.”

Great response! I wasn't aware the chiasm passed so close to the pituitary. Keep us posted on the progress.

DRAGONFIRE....

SORRY TO READ ABOUT THIS HEALTH PROBLEM....SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE GOING THROUGH A BUNCH OF HEALTH RELATED PROBLEMS RIGHT NOW. :(

HOW HAS YOUR TRAINING BEEN?

Do you think the GH had anything to do with it?

Dont think so.

From an Abstract

Pituitary tumors are the most common cause of excess GH production but may also cause deficiencies. If the tumor produces another of the pituitary hormones (such as ACTH or prolactin), it may inhibit GH secretion. If the tumor is relatively large it may inhibit all pituitary hormone production and cause damage to the surrounding tissues.
Some other conditions can also cause general hyper- or hypopituitarism. They may be genetic, due to disease, or to trauma.

I always had low GH levels even at about 21 years of age they were very low, and recommended for replacement therapy by antiaging docs at about 1-1.5 iu ed. Never took more than 2iu ed.
So I dont really think so. For all I know if this is the case maybe I had a Pituitary Tumor for awhile causing a GH deficiencey.

From research high IGF-1 levels plays a role in tumor growth.

Dragonfire... I am so sorry to hear this. From your posts, it sounds like you are doing a good job of keeping everything in perspective, so hang in there. We're here for you.

HOW HAS YOUR TRAINING BEEN?

Non Exsistent. I have not really trained in almost a year now. I gained about 40 pounds of fat even though my diet has been good for the most part. Thyroid, adrenal glands and testes shut down and played the main role in that I believe. The docs have me on synthroid and I just filled a script for some test. 300MG a month is what they are starting me at. I should start to feel better within a few weeks. I plan to join the gym after Turkey Day and get back into things.

It has been hard. I have been wanting to train the past year attempted to manyof times, but have no motivation. I always knew something had to be wrong as I love to train. I was feelingemotional ,drained, exhausted and sad this past year , which was not in my character.

Whats sad is this could have been adressed earlier. I really had to push doctors and go for second and third opinions by other doctors to have more testing to find out what was wrong. One endocrinologist could have found this out a year ago,but was pesistant nothing was wrong with me except that I had hypothyroidism.
