My Dad may have Crohns disease

So, his dr. just called him and told him his antibodies were normal in one test, but appeared different sizes in another which leads him to belive he has Crohns. He has had stomach issues all his life. Lactose intolerant,dirrea,etc... he's going to a specialist next month for more testing, but im wondering if anyone here has any expierence with crohns? I looked it up, and it doestn sound that bad. Seems like treatment is from sugery,different nutritents and anti-infamitory meds. My father knew someone with crohns who was basically dehibilitated and was just a mess, but he thinks he may have other stuff as well. Basically, from anyone's expierence, how bad is this? What are you limited to? Any help is apperciated. Thanks

Hey fourthgen, I do not have any experience with this or know of any that have. But I'm sorry to hear the not so good news. i believe it is a progressive disease but is treatable. I thought I read somewhere that it can be treated with somatropin or GH. Is the dr. sure or is it a guess so far. Obviously there will be more tests. keep us informed bro and I will keep your father in my thoughts and prayers! Try and keep your dad positive and happy!

i have colitis.. but, have a friend of the family who has crohns.. had a aweful time in the beginning.. hit him quick.. it sounds as though..hopefull.. your dad has a mild case .. especialy since you did not mention blood passing ect.. hopefully with the right drugs like sulfur based drugs he will feel much better.. i know the minute i went on the drugs, it was a night and day difference.. our friend was the same way.. take care and lets us know how it comes out..

Get him on an alkalizing diet and have him supplement with primal defense ultra. The medical treatment of crohns is poor. They mainly treat symptoms and do nothing to improve your condition. He needs to start eating better and get his good bacteria in his intestines back up

Thanks for the kind words. Luckly this isnt a very serious disease. He is going to have to modify his diet. Apparantly he cannot eat any veggies,fruits,nuts,beans, anything spicy or anything fried. Basically chicken,pork,turkey,fish, rice,etc... He is going to a specialist in about 3weeks so hopefully more will be resolved. They said he is a rare case b/c usually crohns patiens have very abnormal antibodies and he didnt.
