I love deadlifts and powercleans... but I hate how I always tear up my shins.
Last week our gym got some new barbells that are particularly "rough grooved" and I took out a big gash on my left shin during deads. A week later, doing deads again... first rep of first set and I tear open the quarter sized scab, blood running down my shin. I take a lot fish oil so my blood is a bit thin and I'm trying to just wipe it with my shirt, hoping this isn't going to interfere with my workout (all the while some guy off to the side looking at me with a big "?" on his face). You can see some blood on the sock
My shins are nasty- if/when I shave them, they're going to look really nasty. The right leg shows scar after scar over the years.
I could wear "tube socks" just for the deads and powercleans, but my morning workouts are tight on time so it's just a waste.
Edit- OK, looking at the pics, not a "quarter" sized, more like "dime" sized... still hurt/stung like crazy.
