My NFL picks

These are MY predictions and summarizations for the NFL, as you can see I am a big fan.

As for Sunday -- my predictions:

Falcons vs Panthers: hmm a tough NFC South game, I'm going w/ the Falcons here, but this is one pick that I am not sure of...the Panthers are aching for another win after that tough loss they just had, and they had the Saints on the ropes in New Orleans, that gave them some much needed confidence. Matt Ryan should be able to expose the secondary of Carolina, and with a beefy running game and an energized Roddy White and always reliable Tony Gonzales, they should pull it off. But it should be a close one.

Bucs vs Dolphins: The 'fins are in Miami, their running game is kickass, and the Bucs suck. Dolphins by a landslide.

Lion’s vs Vikings: Read above --- only watching this game will actually hurt...if you are a Lions fan. This game is a prime example of how football should be played (Viks) and how it should not be played (Lions). Since they have a poor run defense already, Adrian Peterson will prob have a field day (like the pun?) in this one. Will Detroit step up to the plate and pull off an upset? Fuhggedabaddit, especially trying to do it in Minn! Vikings by enough that Favre will play minimally in the 4th quarter if at all.

Jaguar’s vs Jets: Victory for the Jets. They have homefield in this one, and depending on which Mark Sanchez shows up this win will either be by a lot or by a hair. The Jags are a mess offensively, and Jones-Drew cannot be a one-man team although sometimes he damn near is.

Bengals vs Steelers: First of all I fucking HATE the STEALERS, and I have my reasons (see SB 40) The Bengals already handed Pittsburgh a loss this year, and as much as I want Benson and co. to put an ass-whoopin' on them, I am afraid they will not be able to overcome the Steelers as they are playing in Pitt and they want revenge. I think Palumalo is back as well. Watch out Ochocinco, he is a monster of a safety. This game is going to determine the who's who of the AFC. As much as it pains me to write this -- and I know there is a bunch of Pitt fans on this board, (Thor, Pesty for a start) Steelers by 10pts.

Saints vs Rams: Yea for the Rams, they have a win on their belt this year! After a bye-week, they will be rested enough to get slaughtered. Sort of like making sure a prisoner is 'healthy' enough to be executed. The Saints have too many weapons, and the rams have only one: Steven Jackson. Poor bastard. HELLUVA back, leads the league in rushing even. Bulger has been a major disappointment as well. The Saints will put up over 40 pts easy, prob by the 1st half lol! Saints all the way.

Bills vs Titans: = Boooring...This game will only be worth watching to see how many yards Chris Johnson (who is just plain sick) will accumulate. Oh and that receiver for the Bills? What’s his name? Oh yeah Terrell Owens. He is fun to watch...when he catches the ball. Titans by a touchdown.

Bronco’s vs Redskins: Now the 'skins are a team that I genuinely feel bad for. Zorn is being used as a scapegoat. Fucking Snyder is a dipshit of an owner and has ruined this team. Portis is hurt too. Broncos are sore after their loss to Pitts. I despise this team as well, but they got something good going on in Denver, and K. Moreno is going to have a HUGE game, as will B. Marshall. The only help Washington is going to get is from retired HOF'er John Riggins. Maybe he should strap up and play for Christ's sake! Denver by a shitload.

Chief’s vs Raiders: KC is in an even more pathetic state than the Redskins. KC has all but imploded this year. Bye bye Larry Johnson. They are rebuilding this year, but picking up some black eyes in the process. One bright spot is QB Matt Cassel, the dude is good, I'll give him that. The Raiders are also in a state of disarray, and need to finally admit that QB Jamarcus Russell is a bust. This is a rivalry that usually brings the best out of both teams. Perhaps not this year though. I'll say Oakland in a close one.

Seahawks vs Cardinals: ouch! The Seahawks are having all sorts of injury problems, and will not have an answer for the potent Arizona attack. Fitzgerald will have his way with Seattle's secondary, and Hasslebeck will be frustrated by the lack of a running game to back him up. In this NFC west contest, the Cardinals will dominate them, *sob* damn.

Cowboy’s vs Packers: This will be a great and fun game to watch. The Packers are anxious to get back on track for an NFC wildcard bid. Beating the Cowboys would be just the ticket to firing them up. Rodgers needs to play more consistently and that damn offensive line needs to protect him. As for the Cowboys? They are now playing to their potential after a rocky start. New stadium, big hopes. Romo also is by far one of the streakiest Qb's in the league; when he's on, HE'S ON, and when he is off, he is OFF. Both teams need this win importantly. It’s going to be a dogfight (no Vick jokes) and I have a feeling the last person with the ball will win. Also Dallas is going to be playing in frigid temps, so it will be interesting. This game is hard to call but I am going to go out on a limb and say GB...barely.

Eagles vs. Chargers: Which Eagles team is going to show up? Better yet, which Chargers team is going to show up? Westbrook is slated to return, yet I am unsure of how effective he will be w/ his bum ankle. Westbrook is IMO, the Eagles' MVP. Without McNabb that team can win, they have solid backups. Without Westbrook the Eagles suffer. Yes they can win without him, but he is a VITAL piece to that offense and makes McNabb's job a whole lot easier. San Diego is supposed to be the powerhouse in the AFC West, but they have been struggling with all kinds of problems. A lot of ppl were quick to jump on the L.T. bandwagon a few years ago, and now it seems even more ppl are ready to castrate him and say he is 'washed up'!!! WTF? He is still an excellent RB, he has had a few nagging injuries, but when healthy he is never someone to be overlooked. Rivers is also establishing himself as a worthy weapon to worry about, and he gets better and better it seems. I predict that sunny San Diego is going have a treat in store for them on Sunday. This game will be bringing out the competitive juices for sure and I have a feeling LT is on the verge of having one of his monster games. The defenses will take a backseat in this one, (im not saying anything to imply these teams are offensive juggernaughts though) and it should be enjoyable to watch. Chargers by 14.

Patriot’s vs Colts: This is going to be THE game to watch, put it right next to the Cinci/Pitt matchup. Both teams are loaded with talent and various weapons. I dislike when certain teams play each other and the game is looked at as Qb vs Qb. I have to admit that this game will be just that in fact. This along with the Cinci/Pitt game is for AFC supremacy. Will Manning pick apart the Pats' defense? Will A. Thomas actually play? Can the league's 'Golden Boy Brady' dismantle the Colts -- especially minus Sanders? There is always that extra incentive on both sides of an undefeated team; stay undefeated, and to be the team that handed them their 1st loss. I have to go with the hometeam on this one, it was a toughie, but I think Manning will pull it off, but not without a serious fight. The Pats seem to be firing on all cylinders as of late, but they play better outdoors. This will not be the case in Indy. Colts by 3.

MNF Ravens vs. Browns: Another gag-me game, although I like seeing the Raven's Defense when they are clicking. Cleveland will have its hands full like they do with every team they play just about. Brady Quinn...is he who they thought he was? (I know it's a Bears thing but I could not help it) lol. I dunno but he needs to do something fast as his career is plummeting along with the team. And what happened to Derek Anderson? Was it a fluke 2 years ago? Hard to say. The Browns are in need of some serious re-structuring. Baltimore actually has an offense these days, and I have to give props to Flacco for his play. With the one-two punch of Ray Rice and Willis McGahee, they are a formidable adversary to any team. Rice is a true gem of a pickup, they needed someone to compliment McGahee. I say it will be Baltimore by 27.

I also had picked SF to beat Daaaa Bearsss -- and as Deion said -- Cutler will make sure to give a few hand-wrapped gifts out, but damn not 5 of them...but two were not his fault...

I would like to add to this thread each week and do my predictions, what the hell ya know? So go ahead guys, tear me apart (you Steeler fans hee hee) and lemme see what you think for tomorrow.

I agree with all picks except I believe that NE will give the Colts thier first loss. Steelers and Bengals will be a good game, this one is for bragging rights and division leadership.

All I care about is the Pats/Colts game. I'm a huge Colts fan. I see the Pats going down tomorrow night. :D Btw, Tom Brady is a big cry baby with the refs. Not to mention that they cheated in the past by having their staff spy on the other teams.

I know, Ive seen him straight up make the ref throw a flag. He gets hit BARELY after he releases the ball, or a defensive player is falling by his legs and he jumps up and starts pointing at the player, crying foul, and the refs toss the flag -- told ya -- he is the league's Golden Boy. They did the same thing to Joe Montana, only he did not complain as much. They just liked him.

You've summed it up perfectly.

Nice commentary, I really enjoyed reading it, let's hear it every week for sure,........ and I pretty much agree with ya on all of them, except like Pesty I think if NE is "on" tonite they will beat the Colts, but if they are not the Colts can certainly take them. I am a big NE fan ,but I have to admit Brady is kind of a crybaby, (although I am not a fan of the Manning brothers at all) also pissed that Vrabel went to K.C. and Brusci is retired,....but this WILL be THE game to watch, as you said, this one and the Steelers/Bengals. GO STEELERS !!!!!!! (waving my terrible towel, lol) :p :D......Also I don't think the Titans over the Bills is likely, but ya never know. All in all I LOVE the game and played it for 4 years in my younger days with a local league. Also really like sitting around on sunday afternoon in front of the fire and eating tons of good food and watching the NFL, it's about the ONLY time I get to relax for a few hours so I really look forward to it.

GREAT WORK GREAT PICS ALL EXCEPT NE VS INDY NE 27 INDY 23

THERES A CONTEST OVER AT ALINBOARD CHECK IT OUT,PEACE

This is great stuff!

...have to agree with most of your predictions...

Chiefs will beat the Raiders by a "3 seconds on the clock" field goal. I hate the Cowboys but I dont think Green Bay has what it takes to stop the Dallas run...despite Romo's hit or miss performance.

The Bengals are in for their biggest game of the year...overall...this is turning out to be a great week in the NFL. Im excited!

The good ole Chiefs won in thier sad season, but will always be a die hard chiefs fan good season or bad season....Chiefs and Chopper...oh and they only got thier 2nd win, but hey I will take it in thier bleak season!

NE looking solid so far against Indy, but plenty of game left!

OUCH

Some of my picks did not go the way I thought for sure -- but that is why I love this game. Some big surprises -- Denver..WTF?!? And the Saints *squeaked* one by of all teams, St. Louis. Also Vince Young looked good in the Titans win -- glad they are starting him again. The Dolphins also barely won their game. I also did not think Cinci could do it again...I was wrong...damn they have the Steelers' number. After Monday night I will post my weeks record. The NE/Ind game is still going on and this could be a nail-biter as I thought.

Haha saints may have won it by a narrow margin but they also had key players on defense out due to injuries. Hey a wins a win this ain't college blow out numbers dont matter as long as that team has that big W on the record thats all that matters.

But seriously sederick ellis if your reading this get out of rehab quickly! Our run defense needs your big 300+ pound ass out there! :D:D

Quick summary

Pats/Colts - just as I suspected, both teams brang the noise, and that last drive by the Colts was inspired by their huge defensive stops, including right after NE picked Manning with only a few minutes to go. I know a lot thought the the decision to go for it on 4th has some ppl furious, and at first I thought they were lining up to try to draw the offsides. Manning was on fire though. That was a blown anyway though as I think Faulk had the 1st. I said Colts by 3, I was off by 2 pts. :)

Cowboys/Packers -- I was right on this pick also, can someone say Charles Woodson? Now he was not going to let his team get beat today, PERIOD.

Seahawks/Cards -- I knew AZ would win, and Boldin is looking like he is 100% again. Warner did what he does as usual.

Eagles/Chargers -- did I call this game or what? :p I knew LT was going to have a breakout performance in this game, and he did exactly that. No he did not have mind-boggling LT-like numbers, but he LOOKED like the LT we know and love to watch. Rivers played flawlessly. McNabb also had a monster of a game -- but Philly abandonded their running game -- maybe b/c the passing was working so well. Philly got to the red zone 5 times, but only scored 2 of those times. Gates was key also.

Chiefs/Raiders --well whaddya know? Good for KC they needed it, and Charles ran the ball well. All Oakland needs is a QB and better receivers, Higgins is ok, but with the stable of RB's they have, all they need is one playmaking WR. M. Bush continues to impress, he is a total steal for anyone that may have picked him up for fantasy. Look at their RB's: Bush, Fargas, AND McFadden. Gradkowski is not the answer either Al.

Falcons/Panthers -- yeah I knew this game could go either way, and Ryan's two picks sealed their fate. Roddy White could not be stopped, nor could Turner who embarassed Carolina's defense with 111yds on NINE carries. The Falcons were bad on 3rd down also --only 43% success, and they were 2-5 in the redzone compared to Carolina's 3-3. Steve Smith became a factor again for Carolina's offense which decided to run no-huddle throughout the game and Delhomme shined in it. This team has weapons, (Carolina) Stewart, for one, can be a headache for any def. coordinator.

Broncos/Redskins -- Whoa...I guess when this team is in a slump, they straight slump. First of all, it was so obvious that the 'Skins were going to run a trick punt play, the TE was split out, and I do not care if Zorn called a timeout or of it was 4th and 20 -- the TE went in motion so obviously they were running it again. Pretty embarassing if you are Denver's ST's coach and you get a timeout to warn your guys to look for a fake punt. No wonder the Redskins played w/confidence. Shit I would be confident too if I pulled off that punt play. And it was not just for a 1st down, but for a TD!!! Both Marshall and Moreno had good games, but the fact that Orton left the game is IMO why they lost. STILL they should have won this game. Simms did not look good at all. Actually he is terrible. Maybe he needs to knock off the rust, b/c if he has to take the reigns Denver is in trouble. I do not think the Ankle injury is as bad as first suspected however. He should be back by next week.

Bills/titans -- well I thought it would be a closer game, I knew the Titans would take it, and I predicted Chris Johnson to have a big game, but instead he fucking had a heydey out there, I mean he was ridiculous, it was like watching the game in slow-motion except he was playing in normal speed. God he is fast and all around talented. The guy is a beast, and although TO had his jersey delivered to CJ after the game, the rest of the defense should have surrendered theirs as well! And speaking of T.O., he was participating in his usual antics again -- yelling at players and coaches etc.. He did have a nice 40+ yd gain late in the game. I predicted this game to be close, and it WAS until the 4th quarter...then the Titans became a team UNLEASHED. Also it was thrilling to watch Young and CJ run the option, and judging from thier performances today they are going to be a real force to reckoned with.

Saints/Rams -- Holy Shnikees! Yeah Dgar21, losing Porter and w/o J. Greer definately makes a difference for thier secondary. Greer is a really good db actually. Thankfully Big Will Smith is healthy this year and boy oh boy he is nasty! He had a nice sack in this game. Brees uncharacteristicly had two picks, and Pierre Thomas usually can produce more yardage per carry than he did today. Colston's fumble did not help and honestly if it were not for that Kick return by Roby, the Saints prob would have lost this game. But they didn't. This team finds ways to win and that IS the bottom line. I still feel sorry for Steven Jackson, (he had another great game) but he finally had some help as Bulger played like he used to play: damn good. The Saints should tip thier hats to them for their effort, and maybe start giving Reggie the credit he deserves, he saved their asses today!

Bengals/Steelers -- well this W for Cinci def puts a smile on my face lol! This game was all about defense, as both sides struggled offensively. Pitts was TERRIBLE on 3rd downs, and cinci was only a little better themselves. Palumalo was a non-factor in this game as he seems to be bothered by his knee again. Benson also was absent for the 2nd half, (hip flexor) but even in the first half there was not much he could do either. Ochocinco (Chad Johnson) had minimal impact in this one, but he made sure his mouth was working when the offense wasn't. This was a game of inches...every yard came at a price, and it was a stalemate for most of it -- in fact thank God both teams have decent FG kickers, because aside from that big kick return, they were the only ones putting points up! The Steelers usually win games like these, and that is saying a lot for this Bengals team. Even Steeler players are crowning the Bengals as kings of the division. Both are tough teams, and this was a tough loss for Pitts.

Jags/Jets -- Talk about having faith in your kicker and none in your defense. With little time to go, MJD downs it on the 1yd line to keep the clock going so they can win the game. He had a sure TD. Now some of you may think that he did the right thing, and he prob did considering the kick would be like an extra point. But it could have been blocked or it may have missed...Its a chance I would not like to take, but it paid off for the Jags. Sanchez had his first pass picked, actually it was the first play of the game for the Jets -- not something a fan wants to see. The Jets are having all kinds of problems defensively -- they seem to have the right parts, but when they are put together they do not work! Also a lot of ppl want to get on Sanchez for his play, but that BS. Yeah he is going to make rookie mistakes, but a QB can only be as effective as his receivers. WR's are paid to do one thing: catch the damn ball. Apparantly this fact seems to elude the wideouts over in NY. The drop on the two-point conversion by B. Edwards can be excused, he took a shot on that one.

Bucs/'Fins -- Wow, I did not expect this game to be so close. As to be expected, Miami's 1-2 RB punch is a lot for any team to handle, and the O-line dominated TB's DL, both on running plays and not allowing sacks. Both offenses did struggle on 3rd downs, and Henne also threw a pick. Give him some time, he is a rookie, and has been asked to do a lot. He is from Michigan, and it seems that quite a few other players from that class are having good years (Manningham for one).

Lions/Vikings -- Yikes. That's all I can say when I watch AP play. He is playing wonderfully well alongside Favre -- who torched Detroit's db's and lb's today. 344 yds passing by Favre. The Viks played conservetivly in the 2nd half, and Childress has been criticized for doing this, but he wants ppl to stay healthy, especially #4 and #28. Peterson has also had problems with fumbling, and that was obvious with his two that he had in this game (both lost poss also) but other than that this offense looks stellar. As good as the offense is, the defense is actually what really impresses me. Jared Allen did not have any sacks but he sure applied pressure. He is also a major factor in why his teammates DID get sacks...they are too busy doubling up/worrying on Allen that it frees up other ppl to make plays -- and they do just that. The Viks D did not have any INT's in this game but they did have 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles, of which 1 they recovered. Both teams did not have good third down percentages, and the Viks were worse in the red zone than Detroit was. One area the Viks need to work on is penalities...they had a bunch of them this game.

Ravens/Browns -- pretty uneventful game actually. 0-0 after 2 quarters. Then the RAYVENS took over. That gadget play when it was 3rd and 2 was just stupid. They have the running game to get it -- and yeah they prob thought they would catch the Browns unaware (and they did) but they need to run the ball there. Brady Quinn -- and the entire offense has no rhythm at all. Now I understand it is hard for any team to establish a good rhythm against Baltimore, but the miscues and broken plays was atrocious. Joshua Cribbs is their most talented player, and Mangini has little faith in Quinn, just look at how many times they ran the wildcat.
My record thus far (and I will edit this after tom night) is:
9-5. Ouch!
