O/T BP oil leak

maybe i'm way off base here but why not nuke it. could that be any worse for the environment than what is happening currently. forgive my ignorance but wouldn't a detonation that far under water cause minimal radiation and damage to the nearby land masses? couldn't a powerful non nuclear device be detonated to seal the leak? just wondering why it's so difficult to fix this thing.

I heard on the radio some were that Russia did that very thing and it worked. i have been thinking that very thought myself.

pardon my ignorance, but how would that work?? Wouldnt that create a bigger hole and more oil gushing out?

I would imagine they will drill a parallel hole, insert a long bongalore torpedo like explosive device and blow it. -Problem solved.

They should have done it after the first week.

BP has been trying to recover the well, above stopping the gusher, after all, it's not their beaches and wildlife...
