HOW MANY OF YOU WENT TO COLLEGE? WHAT DID YOU TAKE? HAS CONTRIBUTED TO YOUR CAREER TODAY? JUST STARTING A DIFFERENT THREAD.

BUT I AM FINISHING UP MY MY B.A. DEGREE IN CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT IN DECEMBER.

Personally i would not be the person i am today if it were not for college...

I have a degree in Kinesiology and 2 teaching credentials. One in Adapted Physical Education and a General P.E credential. I could not have my job without my education.

I really think the discipline from bodybuilding helped me to graduate from college.. My job is fun and pretty easy but requires so much education to get hired, ... that was the hard part..

Now im getting home at 230pm and having 2 months off a year with a ton of vacation time to spend with my kids..Great benefits and good retirement for down the road To me... Teaching is a noble profession and i encourage others to get into this field ...

Going to college was probably the best decision i have made in my life.

I have met quite a few people that wished they went to college... But i have never met anyone who said...."damn, i wish i didn't go" I know a few people that went to grad school, buried themselves in debt and it did not advance in their careers.

I'm a chemistry major, hoping to go to medschool in a couple years but not exactly sure yet. It's been hard enough so far, but I'm glad I'm doing it.

I have a B.A. in psychology that took me 12 years to complete (I was working 55+ hours a week the whole time and changed majors 3 times along the way).

Having a degree is not required for what I do for a living but the experience, knowledge, and skills I gained at college are definitely very valuable and helped create the person I am today.

I have two degrees. One in Financial Accounting and one in Finance, Insuarance, and Business Law. The degrees definitely set me up for a great job and great income and the ability to do a lot of things in business in the future to bring in some substantial income. I just can't stand my job, the long long hours (80 hrs + for 3 months at a time during busy season). I would give my left testicle to do it all over again. I would find a much more rewarding job that doesn't put me behind a damn desk!

i have a bachelors in criminal justice and psych with a minor in sociology.. has exactly NOTHING to do with my career now at all

+1

I too am in the financial industry, I would give anything to go back and do it over again. I HATE my job, but my experience doesnt lend itself to any other type of career. I would love to get out from behind a desk even if it was just a day or two a week to break it up. Should have followed my passion of science or engineering instead of money.

B.Sc. med sciences + phd. does nothing for me now but serve as an interesting talking point in an interview and give me the ability to see wholes in BS scientific arguements I see from time to time in daily life :)

I took a complete U-turn in career - and loving it. That being said, I still see the value of sticking out a degree if you want any kind of white collar job...some do, some don't. really depends on what you want to do.

Good luck with the degree.

I have my BA in business management. I am currently working on my masters.

I have my bachelors in Corporate Health/Wellness (the emphasis is health promotion and exercise science). It open the door for me to get employed by a hospital in the cardiac rehab department (Center for Health Enhancement), also we contract out to other major companies and establish Wellness based programs. I have bee doing this since I graduated college and the Wellness program we have built has grown leaps and bounds...we are getting a ton of support for it. For now, I enjoy it because it is great to see how promoting a healthy environment saves cost on health insurance, sick days, well-being, etc....A healthy company is a productive company. You could only imagine what one can do when you put $$$(incentive) behind exercising, eating properly, maintaining/losing weight, stress reduction, etc..for employees!

Im finishing my phD in kayak repair this year.:D

Seriously, 4 years of undergrad.....then 4 years of Chiropractic school.

No college... I am an entrepreneur, investor, employer as well as an employee. You will find in most cases specialists (college grads) work for generalists (entrepreneurs). School teaches us many things...but what it teaches us most is how to become an employee. I have a very secure Teamster union job as one source of income and I would have to say its the worst source I have...relying on a Govt. pension (bankrupt) or Union pension (soon to be bankrupt)as your future financial solution is foolish...get into things with more control. JMO!

BA and MA.

Wish I hadn't gone. Waste of time and money. But, hindsight is 20/20, if you're lucky.

My major is econ.

I'm not positive what I'm going to do for a masters now, after reading this thread I'm thinking I need to get a masters in something that doesn't put me behind a desk.

I had a full wrestling ride to attend Michigan State University, but I declined it. Early on, I kicked myself in the arse, but Im pretty fortunate to be where Im at today.

I work for a major Electrical supplier as a Journeyman Electrician. I work in one of the largest coal fired power plants on Earth. I had 3 1/2 years of trade school at Henry Ford Community College and Im currently finishing up my Associates Degree in Industrial Science at my local community college. And since my company will pay to further my education, Im going to pursue a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. I haven't decided between Eastern Michigan University or the University of Toledo. University of Detroit Mercy is also a possibility for me.

I can't complain, I haven't made less than $57,000 in my 9 1/2 years with my company and Im on pace to crack 6 figures this year.

I have a degree in Kinesiology and 2 teaching credentials to work with disabled students in grades pre k- 12. Also have a Physical Education Credential.. My focus of study is in Adapted Physical Education. and honestly.. i could not have a better job..

I wanted to comment on that last statement. I agree, when I was 17 and graduated from High School, I was supporting myself and had to work. I applied for grants, loans, scholarships and got turned down. Back when I was in High School, they still had trade schools in High school, were you could learn trades. If it wasn't for the fact that I participated and got a job as a Graphic Artist after High School, it would have been even tougher. I managed to evidentually open a couple of Businesses and investments and did it quite sucessfully. Make no mistake, it is a longer, harder road then a degree. Even though I didn't get a degree, I went and took some seminars and mini courses to educate myself over the years. Over the years I had to break my back and work hard. In todays work place, most won't even look at your resume without a degree.

Two degrees, Business Communication and Business Administration. College was one of the best times of my life!

My Education

BS - Economics - Wrestling scholarship - tons of fun, full time student. Great experience and trains your brain how to think

MBA - Finance/Marketing - Night School - employer paid. Not nearly as much fun, but I learned some things and was exposed to some interesting people who helped shape my career goals and what I want to do with this life.

Why wouldn't you go to college? Money? It's a great investment, especially if you qualify for grants and go to a state school. Time? Take a lite course load and pace yourself. I took a heavy course load at night to finish ASAP- ugh, big mistake. There aint no rush. Enjoy the ride.

BA in Film and Television Production
MA in Architecture

Could care less about the education. I honestly believe its who you know, not what you know. Sorry, jmo. Networking is the only thing I really needed to make money.

Agree! I see so many young guys that think they want to just start making money right away, IMO there is no trade off for the relationships and down right fun had while in college.
