I'm sure we've some serious fisherman here! My personal favorite is deepwater for billfish, so exciting. Anything large on fly gear is pretty intense too.
What's kind of fishing do you do?

We have a REALLY big billfish tournament here in Panama City Beach every summer. It was smaller this year but it's been huge the past years.

I work it because the Marriott I work for in the summer plays host to all the people going to the marina as it's part of our property. There are some HUGE boats and HUGE fish that come into the marina.

ive been doing alot of striper fishing, right off the beach at my house. a 30 lb striper will put up a great fight, especially in the surf.

Bass are the most fun to fish for but I never eat them.
The trout streams here are painfully over-fished with the droves of people out of work.

I have fished my whole life, fresh and salt..now I fish for a living... ground fish/monk/lobster....hard and rewarding work... but i will admit I enjoy a nice day on a pond largemouth fishing a little more than a day of picking fish from a net at sea

I love to fish and being on the water. A few friends and I all have Kayaks that we fish from about 3 times a month. We usually catch snook, reds, jacks and some smaller sharks. One of my friends has a 26' Pro Line SS that we will take offshore but we usually prefer the kayaks because you can be on the water super fast and clean up is a breeze...not to mention no gas needed!

Offshore

Its been 2 years or so since I have been out there because of various circumstances, but up until that point I was an avid offshore guy. Up here in the northeast late summer and fall I was all about the tuna. We would do 24-36 hour trips anywhere from 80-120+ miles offshore. Just being there was worth going. Whales, dolphins, sharks, huge manta rays, you name it you can see it out there.

Being hooked to a large fish on standup gear will test anybody. If you ever have the opportunity you have to try it.

There is nothing like watching the sun come up out in the deep, where the water is pure blue. Its as peaceful as it gets. I miss it, and when things settle down, I will hopefully be out there again in '09.

He hit the nail right on the head with this one....
Nj shore is great for fishing.. Striper's, Blue fish, Fluke, Black drum, Taoug, weakfish...

Beach or boat... your sure to have a great time. there are many party boats u can go on for 1/2 day or full day fishing trips, not to mention hundreds of private charter boats...

Im so glad i grew up here and learned to fish... i LOVE it

if any of u guys ever take a trip to the shore here, spend a day on one of the boats... good times!

monkfish

Monkfish is my favorite fish. It is not often that I can get it but when I do, oh how I love "The Poor Man's Lobster"

I have entered that billfish tourney in the past in Panama City. I used to go out about every six weeks or so in the Gulf. Haven't been in over six years. Most fun I've had is fishing off of Cozumel when on vacations there.

I was mostly trout fishing here in Georgia (mostly stocked) for the last few years but a friend got me back into bass fishing. We fished most Georgia and Alabama lakes, but would also take trips to Texas to fish Lake Fork, and also to California a few times. I kind of dropped out as I was not quiet as "competitive" as this guy where fishing was concerned. I liked to be a bit more relaxed.

Best fishing experience:

I may get some of this wrong its been a few years ago. This same guy found an island (key) off the coast of Sant Simons/Sea Island, in Georgia. I believe. I think the name was raccoon key, they used to advertise in the back of national outdoor magazines.. They had dug channels through this island and I think the intention was to "farm" crab. Anyway they struck fresh water, flooded it, and all these channels through the ten foot high reeds were filled with Bass.
We rented the place, it had one large two story lodge, run on a generator, and on guy who got your boats ready and was also the cook for the huge meals afterward. Back in the reeds were beds for alligators and crocs, some of these were huge, and we were in these 14 ft aluminum boats. They also had a place to shoot pistols that was pretty interesting.

At night we would go out on the dock and sit and drink and catch crabs on strings looking out on the stars over the water. All in all it was a great getaway and we caught hundreds of bass.

I fish saltwater along the coast of Louisiana for redfish, speckled trout and flounder. Grew up fishing in the Atchafalaya Basin for brim, sac-a-lait, etc., but now only go to shoot snakes every once in a while. Ocasionally fish a friend's stocked pond for bass. Oh, I like to go crabbing too.

Surf fishing while watching the sun rise. haven't done that in years.

Pekker where in Ga are you from?

Currently Atlanta. First gf was from Rome, father was professor at Berry College and they lived on campus, so I traveled there a good bit.

I still travel to Rome, twice a year, except now its to Italy!:D

Haha that's crazy! I played a lot of baseball at Berry college. Had a scholarship offered to me there for baseball but then I got injured and moved to PCB.

Rome is starting to become big. Every year when I go there for Christmas it seems to keep getting bigger.

Mash:

I had several teamates play at Shorter and several girlfriends run track at Berry. I had an offer from Berry in tennis but I actually played a different sport a little farther south. In retrospect, I probably should have played tennis! I wouldn't squeek and crack when I first walk in the mornings.
