O/T Going bak to school

Hello fellas, I'm still trying to get my business in order, but I also want to go back to school and major in Network Information Systems. Does anyone here work in this field? I'm currently reading as much as I can find about the industry and making sure this is a good idea to pursue.

I'm just curious how others in the field are liking it, and what input they can give to me.

Hmm

Im graduating this may with a degree in Computer Science from the univeristy of Maryland. But Im 1/3 partner in a new health club were opening this Sept, so Im not entering the field. My parents are computer constultans and make great money, try to learn as much as Databases, Oracle and things of that nature. It is a tough job market right now, but it is going to get better, and by the time your done it should be prime to go. Alot of my friends who have since graduted in the cpu field cant get any jobs, right now.

IT (Information Tech) is not the field you want to be getting into right now, unless it's definitely what you want to do. Granted, if you can secure a good job you can make a few bucks, and if you work as a consultant you can make quite a bit too. There are so many out there in the IT field right now that it's close to impossible to get a job even with experience. Now it's starting to trickle down into CS as well. I was lucky to land a co-op for a tiny company doing Windows programming and database admin. In fact, I only got the job because my friend already works there. If IT is the field you choose, then work your ass off, and I wish you luck.

specialize

if thats what you want to do, do it and then specialize in something you know will have a demand for it over the next decade. For instance I am in Health Services Admin program at UCF right now. They are stressing for a lot of students to learn Health Information Management (basically, database/communication of patient info/statistics) The Health field is the fastest growing industry behind Tech's.

to put it more simple

Its networking hospitals/general practitioners/specialists and all other fields into one system. Patients will soon/already have the ability to look up their x-rays and MRI's, etc., on the net.
