I hope I’m wrong, but I feel pretty strongly that in a few years when this is behind us, many people will look back and think something similar to “I’m very fortunate that I was lucky to have mild symptoms and that covid19 didn’t take my life the way it did so many others, some who I knew personally and was so surprised when it happened to them. In hindsight, I wouldn’t have doubted the severity or questioned the experts that suggested we shut down everything for as long as we did.”

Of course. My reply was to the person who posted the video showing people going around hospitals (including in NY) and them all being empty in the reception and outside. Even if there were 100 people dying from the virus inside that hospital they wouldn't be seen from the outside or in the reception nor would any of their relatives be waiting for them. So my reply was more to people stating this is all fake and people aren't dying and the media is lying about all the cases/numbers. We all know the media lies for whatever reason but some people genuinely believe the hospitals are lying as well in some big government plot. I don't know details as I have never been to NYC but on Google it states there are 11 hospitals in the city. I am sure there are only a few main ones but I figured 100 deaths per day in a NY hospital is far from a conservative number. Even if that number was much higher you still wouldn't have people running around outside or in the reception in a panic.

Taking videos of random hospitals across the US is also pointless as well because as I posted statistically the number of deaths in the US is still very low (compared to population). The number/percentage of infected who end up in hospital is fairly low and there are only 247,792 active cases (obviously the real number is higher). But my point is even if you take a very high 20% of the total active infected you get 49,558 in hospital. If you put all of them in multiple hospitals around the USA is doesn't lead to mass panic and hundreds of people outside hospitals. So you may have missed my point as I 100% believe some intensive care (and other) departments in multiple hospitals are in a panic right now because many people are dying. But even if that is the case it wouldn't translate to every main hospital being full of people panicking all over the reception or outside the grounds. We all know the media exaggerate and the reasons for that are extremely interesting but it still doesn't mean that this virus still isn't killing many people.

I do agree with others the panic created by this is ridiculous but most level headed people are usually somewhere in the middle and realize this is dangerous and we must be sensible/careful but at the same time the world/economy needs to keep moving.

Oh 100% I believe it...

With my situation I was in an accident literally 2 blocks from the hospital, they wanted to charge me $1,500 for the ambulance ride, when I got there they had me waiting for CT Scan etc because my friend was in worse condition (I basically walked away, he was in a coma/ICU) so anyway, they did CT Scan all over, bloodwork, game me something for pain and basically kept me in a room for 8-10 hours, I wasn’t being attended to the last 4-5 hours or so, they wanted to keep me over night and I refused, I said I wasn’t even being attended to that if something were that serious they would’ve told me and attended to it, not left me in a room for 5 hours.. They gave me an AMA and I signed myself out.

My bill? $160,000... For a couple scans, bloodwork and being in a room for 8-10 hours...

My buddy? Coma for 28 days, ICU, multiple surgeries on his head and for a collapsed lung and broken bones etc, total hospital stay was about 6 weeks..

His bill? $1,050,000..

So when I got the bills and did the lawsuit etc they tried telling me what mine was and I asked: “How the fuck is my bill 10% of what my friend’s bill is when he got multiple surgeries and stayed there 6 weeks, majority of the time in ICU etc and I only stayed there for 8 hours?!”

The lady stayed quiet on the phone... What ended up being paid was like 13k...

Here at my hospital if you leave AMA the insurance will not pay any of your bill and your stuck with the entire bill. Its unfortunately you got into accident, but consider yourself lucky you got stuck paying what you did if you did walk out AMA.

About 30 min ago Boris Johnson was moved to ICU. His condition is getting worse. He is not on a ventilator yet. From what I've seen, fatality is about 30% if you end up in ICU and 50% if you're on a ventilator.

This is serious stuff, taking out the leader of a great nation. Hopefully he will be fine. Not sure who it taking his place now while hes in hospital.

I‘m sure there’s lots of factors. Washing hands. Not touching face. Covering mouth when coughing. Staying home when not feeling well. Warm weather. The problem with models and stats is there’s no wrong answer. I state a billion people will die in two months if you don’t do X and only 10,000 die with zero proof of people doing X, I’m a hero. Same scenario but 900,000,000 people die? Same answer. I find it odd that there’s so much hyperbole and end of the world articles about this virus yet nobody gave two shits about the last Pandemic in 09/10: H1N1. Same virus type, same doomsday projections, yet this time, EVERYONE has an opinion or comment and the news is on a 24hr deathwatch cycle. I’d even bet there wasn’t 1/100th the comments on this site, tv, or news about the Swine Flu yet it’s fatality projections were on par with C19. The bigger battle will be trying to calculate the financial destruction of MILLIONS of families after our handlers tell us it’s safe to shake hands again.
