Oral L-Carnitine for cognitive function.

I've seen where some of you guys use oral L-Carnitine or Acetyl-L-Carnitine to help with brain function and it's got me interested in it for that reason

I'm wondering what doses you use , if there is a particular brand you prefer and how long till you see or feel any sort of effects
 
If Alcar does indeed work I'd be using something by NOW, Jarrow, Swanson, etc.
 
500 or more mg of ALC has me kind of uptight with more anxiety sometimes. Some people report irritability or even outright aggressive outbursts. This one might be some kind of reddit mind-virus where if one reads about they also contract it. I don't know.
 
The reason I ask is that I've been diagnosed with "TBI" from a couple severe concussions and for a few years I have noticed that my short term memory was slipping a little.
After surgery in 2019 it's gotten significantly worse , not sure it there was a point during second surgery where I was with low oxygen or from days of being kept sedated to unconscious or whatever but there is definitely some changes.
 
Krill oil and fish oil maybe hgh or bpc157 and cap also follow up with a neurologist. The brain can heal make sure you eat well they say keto helps alot

I have used ALCAR on and off over the years.

I cannot say I have had distinctly measurable benefits, but it is so cheap I give it a chance now and then.
I am back on it now; powder from MyProtein.
 
I’ve also utilized it on and off in the past and can’t tell any significant difference.
 
For me ALCAR does give a minor boost, in my case I was dosing 2-3g on an empty stomach first thing in the morning.
 
You may consider pairing your ALCAR with r-alpha lipoic acid. They seem to compliment each other. A couple other cognitive enhancers you may look into are NAC, low dose progesterone and phosphatidylserine.

There's a laundry list of supplements and lifestyle modifications that purportedly create a more robust environment on myelin sheathing and cell membranes.
 
Creatine also helps in so many ways too. There seems to be evidence it have cognitive benefits.
