i have several friends that own clubs here in st.louis. the one friend just sold half his ownership of a very popular downtown club. they were only open on fri-sat and he said he wanted a club open all through the week to make more money. i would say that you are in a good situation though, you CANNOT lose money, just time, however it might be worth it in the long run.
i am 22 years old, im into techno based clubs, however they are a dying breed which sucks. what i have noticed is that there are a large number of people with money that are in the same crowd. mostly the late 20's to early 40's, you know the type with the BMW's, wear suits to clubs, likes to do coke. i would love to open a fairly upscale club/martini bar, with a house mucis/techno mix, but a calm atmosphere. i think you could draw a good crowd, which means no hoosiers, fighting, broke ass mofo's, also dress code is mandatory.
i guess mainly im saying you have to be unique otherwise you will not last long. clubs come and go, as soon as the new ones open everyone goes there, then another one opens and everyone goes there.
anyways thats my thought and i have never owned a club,, lol.. maybe badman can help more.
Later,
Todd
