I'm a big fan of slang and use it as much as I can. It makes me laugh. I'm sure that you guys on this board have got some good ones as it relates to bodybuilding.

The most recent one I heard and now use, I got from my 4 year old daughter. She jabbed me in the arm the other day and said, "daddy what are those ropes in your arm?" I looked down and she was pushing on a vein on my arm.

So vascularity= Roped up.

What do you guys got?

Too Cute!!!! that's a good one! mine only look like someone stringed some Cat-6 under my skin.

Well there are definitely two terms I can think of to refer to people you consider serious trainers, and that's "dude" and "bro". Rarely will you find a convo between to bodybuilders where one of these, if not both, are used.

beware the terms "bud" or "buddy" depending on inflection it can mean, "sorry, I'm still using that" or "GET YOUR BITCH ASS OFF MY BENCH!!"

haha. I like the "roped up" one...

I get a kick out of all the slang terms bbers use for being in contest shape:
(feel free to add)

cut
peeled
shredded
dialed in
chiseled
straight greek (i.e. greek god)
bolded

Thats just a few that come to mind

This is going to be a fun thread.

Dry as hell - no water left on you

Striated - obvious

Full - size is there

Also, I loved this little tidbit I seen in a magazine once. You know you're a bodybuilder/powerlifter when you have ceased working out and now refer to it as training sessions.

Yeah its not "working out" or "workout" its "Train" or "Training". Good call on that one lol

How about instead of going by Monday Tuesday whatever you only know the days as leg day, chest day ect...

Heavy weight= Slag, shit ton, iron,

Legs= Wheels, trunks, or sticks.

I love these

In the book "SLICED" (by Bill Reynolds & Negrita Jayde), the states of muscularity are objectified as follows (I'll summarize each):

1. Full house = Over or near 20% bodyfat with no visible muscle definition and only a hint of separation between major muscle groups if those groups are very large. Basically a person in this state could be confused for a football linebacker. If you're higher than this bodyfat percentage, you'd be considered overweight/obese.

2. Hard = Some muscle separation appears between delts and upper arm. Abs are still not visible. Approximately 15% bodyfat.

3. Cut = More muscle separation appears particularly in the chest and back, outline of the abs begins to appear slightly. Approximate bodyfat level = 12%

4. Defined = Muscle separations get deeper in the arms, chest, legs and back, and abs appear when flexed. Approx. bodyfat level = 10%

5. Ripped = Abs are clearly visible all the time, vascularity in arms is prominent, chest and back separation is obvious, and face is starting to appear more angular. Condition can be held indefinitely. Approximate bodyfat level = 7-9%

6. Shredded = Striations appear in large muscle groups when they are flexed. You look small in clothes, but look fantastic when you're not. Vascularity appears in lower abdomen and in the legs. Condition can be held for several days with careful dieting. Competitive bodybuilders often aim for this state for competition day. Approximate bodyfat level = 5-7%

7. Sliced = Muscles and tendons begin to appear in the face when chewing, striations appear everywhere and vascularity appears everywhere. Bodyfat levels are close to 3% and subcutaneous water levels are near 0. Condition can only be held for a few hours at a time. Not a healthy condition to stay in due to lower water level.

This one is a good one bro.

So number 8 could be this.

8. Shrink wrapped= see Shelby Starnes.

I remember when I didn't know what gear meant. If some guy told me he was using gear I would have assumed he was about to go on a camping/hiking trip or something. (not that I've ever had someone run up to me and go "hey I'm using gear!" :D)

Dialed In is one of my favorites.

Grainy is another good one.

Swole.

Hehe now that I think about it we have a fair amount of slang in the sport.

people who join the gym in january= new years resolutionaries.

Plate- 45lbs
quarter- 25lbs
"pins"- needles
"I'm flat" or "He's flat"- glycogen depleted

dime=10lbs

I overheard some kids calling SHRUGS " I DONT KNOWS"
Because they say it looks like someone is saying " I dunno" haha

baby plate = 2 1/2 pound plate
freak = the ULTIMATE complement in our sick world lol
dry = little to none of subcutaneous water, strirations are everywhere
"slinned up"= muslces are FULL and veins usually prominent if bodyfat is low
