OT: Sushi for you AZ folks

All the AZ folks, there is a current all-you-can-eat sushi special at a FANTASTIC sushi restaurant on 79th/83rd and Thunderbird in Peoria or Glendale. It is called Sushi Yuki, across from Golds Gym on 83rd and Thunderbird. For $24.95 you will get you SLABS (literally) of Salmon on rice (Nigiri), not the 1" x 1/2" crap at other places. The sushi is 3" x 1" of fresh, expert cut, and delicious fish. You can eat all the squid salad, spicy tuna rolls, etc for $24.95.

Also check out Sushi Kee on Rural and Warner. They just started an all you can eat on Saturdays for $25 that includes everything except sashimi. I know the owner personally and he takes pride in using top quality fish wheresas a lot of the places will get the cheaper grades. He is also very generous with the portions; for years I have been getting the sashimi combo for carry out every tuesday night and he just takes one of those big styrofoam containers and just fills it up with like8 different types of fish and plenty of it. They also have REAL wasabi which I have never seen at any other place before(the green mushy stuff is not real wasabi, real wasabi looks kind of like relish).

I tried sushi for the 1st time about 6 months back. I would like to try it again at a better establishment.

Man, I have tried it every way possible and just makes me sick?!?

Might be a pshycological thing watching my dad gut them as a kid fishing, who knows.

Even had some friends from Hawaii try to cook Maih Maih (sp?) which is suppose to be a mellow kind of fish and lost it on that too?!?!?

So instead, I just have Saki Bombers!

Wow...that's kind of fugged up! Is it really necessary, god.

I'm a fan of sushi...in fact, I'm going out for some tonight...but I like to eat fish when it's actually dead...

California Rolls are ok. We all were at a place here in Tucson. Dave Henry was CHOWING on all this food. Watching him eat oysters was gross. LOL Not my thing personally.

Tried them too, still kinda fishy to me, even though there is no fish in there! Weird, I know but maybe it is the same counter they roll the fish on.

But no problems with shrimp, oysters or lobster.
