The president of Poland and his wife died in a plane crash this am in Russia. A lot of the presidents cabinet and top military advisors were also among the dead. This is a huge loss for Poland and their govt. Many of their top intellectuals perished...very sad day for the Polish people.

While this is sad... to anyone who knows anything about airplanes, it's not exactly unexpected.

They were flying a Tupolev TU-154. Basically, a death trap. The Boeing equivalent, the 727, stopped production for passenger service in the U.S. back in 1984!

Based on the information available, before what happened today, the Polish president had previously over ridden the pilot and air traffic control on two occasions and ordered a landing in unsafe conditions.

They were making their FOURTH attempt to land, rather than divert to Minsk or Moscow. I wonder who ordered them to land (see above!).

A tragedy? Sure. Avoidable? Absolutely!

What i mean is that this was not a conspiracy here. It was a bad call by the pres, and the pilot for not listening to air traffic control.

Thanks bro. I am a pilot actually. It's sad, but shit (stupidity) like this just pisses me off (hence, my first post...)

The chances of dying while walking down your sidewalk in front of your house are 10,000 time greater than dying in a plane crash.
