I like learning about nurition. And was wondering what is your take on this? I have seen diets like The Cut Diet, Or like a Zone Diet. That has a ratio of lean protein, carbs, fat, fiber. Then I see some people talk about seperate fats and carbs. Protein & Fat or Protein & Carbs. What's so wrong with mixing them togther? Not like were eating pork chops for protein, pop tarts for carbs then wash it down with some butter for fat. I mean a combo of Lean Protein, Low GI Carb, Fat, Veggies. And this is with a good moderation. Like maybe 35-40 protein, 40-50 carbs, 14-18 fats. I would like you guys opinions.

hell yeah bro, I dont worry about any of that shit, I used to stress over it all the time during diet mode. OH NO, CANT HAVE FATS AND CARBS IN THE SAME MEAL, HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT!!! I quit giving a fuck about it, and what do you know, I look 10x better!! If your hungry, eat, just eat healthy

HONESTLY

MAYBE YOU SHOULD TAKE A NUTRITION COURSE AT YOUR LOCAL JC? YOU WILL LEARN A LOT OF WHAT YOU ARE ASKING. I HELPED YOU OUT WITH A DIET 1 YEAR AGO AND NEVER HEARD FROM YOU AGAIN........

i actually majored in human foods and nutrition at wvu for 2 years but got out of it. my professor who was also head of the department knew i was into training and told me all i needed to do to gain muscle/weight was add a bowl of ice cream everynight. this came from someone with a masters degree in the field. i was eatting around 200-250 grams of protein at the time from things like the original met-rx formula and ground turkey and tuna and she told me i would probably have kidney failure later in life if i continued.

I know Phil. I told you I moved and having a new baby didn't help with money situitation. When the time comes I want would love to work with you again. I just wanted to throw up a thread about nurition. Im getting tired of seeing people talk about the secret pro steroid stacks..

I will tell you that mixing fats and carbs dont really matter as long as the portions are controlled. Everyone worries that the insulin spike from the carbs is going to store the fat you are eating as bodyfat. Well first off, eat lower GI carbs and there wont be much of a spike. Next remember that fats slow digestion, hence lowering the GI of the carb (and slin spike) even further. You will just have a nice steady slow dispersing source of energy.

This is effective for gaining mass or for a meal any time of the day OTHER than post workout, since including fat and slowing the digestion of the carb is a BAD idea for replenishing or even generating glycogen.

Carbs spare protein and also replenish glycogen. Fats im not an expert on (im sure someone will chime in with a more in depth answer on fats) but i know it helps rebuild damaged cell membranes and is helpful in a number of cellular functions, which is why its so important for muscle growth. Fats can also be a great energy source if the right type is being consumed. Carbs, Fats, and Protein are all essential in the diet for a bodybuilder....you just gotta figure out how, when, and how much for YOURSELF....everyone is different

Well

Then do not buy into the BS. I went over stuff with you FIRST BEFORE YOU PAID ME[........( did not pay me) /B]......I have bills too bro. No secrets man, just be honest and fair..........it is more important than stressing on what to mix for more muscle growth.

Stressing about keeping your carbs and fats separated is almost like stressing about taking a contrast shower (which was just in another thread).

It's micro, does it make a difference sure - but make sure you have all your other basic ducks in a row that most people don't. For example:
eat healthy foods: fruit, veggies, lean meat, etc
If your stressing about this C+F I sure as hell hope you aren't having a pizza 2x a week or even eating bread (even WW).

It is a minuscule thing that shouldn't be stressed about especially since your asking this question - I'm sure you have some flaws in your diet that you need to focus on more. It's kinda like doing isolation movements and forgeting the compounds... just my .02

but then again the dollar aint worth much anymore so thats pretty worthless.

hahahahhaha

So I just read you mentioned those diets pushed that philosophy of the C+F being seperated.

That is how they make their money. 95% of content in all diet books are the same... they all have the same main strategy to lose weight.

But that's not what they sell off of. They sell their book by ranting on the 5% difference that 'no one' else has in their book.

Think about all those diet books, and when you boil through all their BS, look at what their main strategy is: lower calories? burn more calories?

The BS that they rant about how their book is 'unique' or 'ground breaking' won't get you far at all.

Got to love marketing.

basically it comes down to this:

carbs + fats are fine to eat together

however - you can optimize your carb intake by having them earlier in the day and around your 1st meal and around your workouts. How much difference this makes? i'm not sure
