Prednisone worth taking or not ?

Hey everyone I have been doing a little bit of reading on Prednisone and I have seen taht some of the effects of the drug is muscle gain and appetite gain. As I am not a doctor I was wondering if you all could give me some feed back on the drug weather or not it is safe to take and if so what kind of daily dosage. I would really appreciate all the feed back I could get from you guys pros and cons I can easily get my hands on the product taht is why I was wondering weather or not its worth it and if it is safe. thanks for all of you guys time. take care train hard and stay focus'd

Prednisone is a CATABOLIC steroid...not ANABOLIC. Stay away. Every person that takes prednisone thinks they're on steroids.

My mother had to take it. She had some problem with her blood platelets and her splene. Had the splene removed and had to take prednisone. Its bad shit man, she had all kinds of problems from it.

i get put on it occasionally because of my asthma...doc gives to me when breathing gets really difficult,does it increase my appetite.yes it does i am generaaly put on it on a tapered bases two weeks on the average.grandma was on it and granpa cause breathing etc..there feet swelt up so bad they cant even get there shoes on.........prob would stay away unless doc orded and supervised

I have no idea where you read what you say you did.
Prednisone and others are in the corticosteriod family. Any corticosteriod is totally contraindicated for muslce gain or growth. Mainly anti-inflammitory response. Highly catabolic in nature and it will stop your muslce gians dead in their tracks. If high enough doses and concentrations are used then you will start dropping weight real fast and it will all be muscle.

As others have said, its catabolic. Also causes alot of water retention. I have had to use it for allergies and the stuff sucks. It can also make people and animals go a little crazy. stay the hell away from that stuff.

So true. It's really funny, I had a friend on it and he would always say things like "Dude, I feel great, I'm gonna get so huge.. steroids are awesome!".
I tried to explain the difference to him but... no.

I just had a 6 day prednisolone prescription and didn't
realize until 2 days after I finished it how much like crap
it made me feel.It helped a little with my degenerated disc in
my neck as far as my arm & hand weren't numb as much but
2 days after I finished all the pills I felt better than I did the previous
week - I also noticed a lot of cramping in my forearms when taking the prescription.

Yes this drug can be nasty and is NOT an ANABOLIC STEROID.
AVOID if you can!!!

I just had a friend stop by at Thanksgiving and tell me how he tiled his whole kitchen floor because he felt so great on the Prednisone. He was jacked, he said. I didn't even bother to dispute his claim.

For the love of God NEEVERRRRRR take this stuff unless you absolutley need it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have taken it twice in my life short term (one week) and yes in he beginning you get stronger due to water gain, but very short lived. Don't plan on gettin any sleep cause you will stare at the walls all night, hope you got a good book to read. Your BP will go sky igh and your heart will feel like it is coming out of your chest it will beat so hard.

Once you are on it long enough you can never come of. It will ruin your life.

Yeah, I remember years ago when a young bodybulder came up to me in the gym and ranted and raved about how great this prednisone he was taking was. I dont understand how so many people can be so ill informed about this drug. A 5 min search on google would give you the answer.

as maldorf said about google. i have to take this drug when my crohns/collitis flares up, very unpleasent however sides from this are a walk in the park compared to how i would feel without it!

It sure is. I have asthma. When I was younger it used to be a lot worse than now and I would have to go on the medrol dose packs for several weeks sometimes. The drug is great though if you need it for its anti inflamitory effects but terrible for muscle buidling!

my wife took predisone while pregenant with our last child. her plattlets were so low that they said she would bleed to death on the operating table . so they gave her predisone to build them up and she gained alot of weight in a few weeks . after it was all said in done another doctor could not beleive that they but her on that . he said it was used for cancer and other things. anyways its bad .

It's bad plain and simple. Just recently put a puppy on it hoping to reduces some swelling of the optic nerve. I stopped her treatment after a few days. My vet really didn't even want to do it but it was really the only option. That was at a dose of like 10mgs, if he didn't even want her on it what make ya think it could be usefull to us. It's not, I had to take it once for an allergic reaction to some fast food. My face and lip swelled to the point of almost bursting!! I only took it for 1 evening and that was it. I would avoid at all cost.
