Red Wine as a bodybuilding supplement?

What do you guys think about adding a glass of red wine each day as a heart health supplement?

I'm 25, and do not consume alcohol. Would the health benefits of some red wine outweigh the empty calories and alcohol? What is the verdict?

Bump, i'd like to know this as well. Supposedly a glass of red wine greatly improves cholesterol and is very heart healthy. Only has a few grams of sugar in it too. I just wonder what a glass really is. I dont think its a normal 8oz.

One glass of red wine has cholesterol and heart benefits. But that is the key... no more than one glass per day. And that is considered to be about 4 ozs as an average. To compare, the total amount of alcohol in a typical serving of beer (12 ounces), wine (5 ounces), and hard liquor (1.5 ounces) is the same.

LM, I am assuming your a natty right?? If so, It really wont harm you in the long run. But like Brick said, ONE glass a day. And if you can pick a red wine that is low in alchohol volume. As low as you can get it.

And if you guys check online I cant remember where i found it but a glass of red wine on average only has like 3g sugar. Also not liver toxic at all in that dose. Less toxic than a baby aspirin.

Grape Juice

Why does it need to be wine? Why can't juice help? It may be a stupid question, but i just woundered.

I try and drink a glass a day (4 oz) due to the fact that it lowers the risk of a heart attack, raises HDL cholesterol (good) and prevents LDL cholesterol (bad) from forming also prevents blood clots from forming. Regular grape juice will not work cause red wine has resveratrol (sp?) which is found in the grape skin and grape seeds.
