Ive just recently added this into my nutrition instead of iodized salt. Personally i think it tastes a little diffrent(better). My question is in a health standpoint why is it better? and why is it better in a bodybuilding standpoint?

i think its pretty much the same nutirition wise as table salt but like you say has a little different taste.

supposedly table salt is bleached and refined
and ive been told the same amount of sea salt to iod yeilds a lower overall sodium content. not sure if its true scientifically but...

frk

sea salt is all I use now for salt. I definately agree that it tastes way better than regular table salt. I don't use it alot though, just on egg whites and maybe some veggies some times.

Yeah i dont use "normal" salt.
As said above, its bleached and messed with, it contains more then just salt. Its not healthy at all.

I eat Unprocessed sea salt, Its kinda GREY in colour,
if you buy sea salt that is WHITE, it has been bleached with unhealthy stuff.

Sea salt vs. table salt: Which is healthier? - MayoClinic.com

Mayo Clinic nutritionist Katherine Zeratsky said:
Sea salt vs. table salt: Which is healthier?
Is sea salt better for your health than table salt?

Answer
from Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D.
Sea salt and table salt have the same basic nutritional value — both mostly consist of two minerals — sodium and chloride. However, sea salt is often marketed as a more natural and healthy alternative. The real differences between sea salt and table salt are in their taste, texture and processing, not their chemical makeup.

Sea salt is produced through evaporation of seawater, usually with little processing, which leaves behind some trace minerals and elements depending on its water source. These insignificant amounts of minerals add flavor and color to sea salt, which also comes in a variety of coarseness levels.

Table salt is mined from underground salt deposits. Table salt is more heavily processed to eliminate trace minerals and usually contains an additive to prevent clumping. Most table salt also has added iodine, an essential nutrient that appears naturally in minute amounts in sea salt.

By weight, sea salt and table salt contain about the same amount of sodium chloride. Your body needs only a couple hundred milligrams (mg) a day to stay healthy, but most people get far too much — mostly from sodium in processed foods. So regardless of which type of salt you prefer, keep sodium consumption between 1,500 and 2,300 mg of sodium a day if you're a healthy adult. People with high blood pressure, African-Americans and anyone middle-aged or older should aim for the low end of that range.

lol i don't add salt on anything... i feel like i get way to much as it is... with bread, and cottage cheese, and sandwich meat sometimes... and marinades i put on my salmon and chicken and stuff...

I have a huge weakness to salt. I just love it. Sometimes I even crave it.

im the same way some people have cravings for sweet food, i get cravings for salty food

Sea salt is a bit of a scam, but I do really enjoy coarse grain salt. :)

I rarely use salt, but when I do, I use sea salt.

Sea Salt is the only one I use. It's naturally made and I like the tast better too...

I do not add salt often but use various sea salts. Sometimes the flavor is more intense and you may use less.

They are also flavored differently than cheaper table salt in my opinion. I use a multi setting grinder to create different particle sizes depending on application.

Three things I use to enhance foods daily: Better quality salt (Sea Salt), Higher quality Olive Oils with more intense flavor, and Better Quality Aged Balsamic Vinegars. These are simple things that truly add a bit to you home meal prep.

I use sea salt because I'm allergic to Iodine .

I would say its the other way around, "normal" tablesalt is the scam.

"Interesting Salt Facts

•Table Salt has been heated to 1200 degrees, changing the molecular structure, which the body can't easily metabolize
•Natural Salt (Himalayan Salt or Celtic Sea Salt (not processed sea salt from your grocer)) is easily metabolized along with its 80 - 100 + minerals.
•Salt companies don't make their profits from selling salt, it's made from selling the extracted minerals (leached from the natural salt) to supplement manufacturers (Talk about creating a need, then filling it. Got to love that marketing model!)
•Table Salt has been completely Bleached and Leached of all its minerals
•Iodine is added back to prevent goiters from iodine deficiency (now we have a problem with too much Iodine causing Hyperthyroidism) Note: If you get off Table Salt, you need to find a healthy source of Iodine -Fish, Fish Oil etc.
•Table Salt also includes additives including aluminum silicate, dextrose, bleaching elements, and other chemicals
•Most Sea Salt at your grocer has been processed, bleaching and leaching it of minerals (It's a hair better than table salt)
•Table Salt causes strokes, high blood pressure, heart attack, kidney disease, and heart failure (The AMA recently concurred)
•There's a reason that you don't use Table Salt in Saltwater Aquariums! (By the way, you should see what they have to do to tap water to prepare it for "Life" in Saltwater Aquariums. Basically they have to remove the poisons we have put in there in order for it to sustain life - another story, another time.)
•Natural Salt is Scientifically Shown to Enhance Overall Health
•Natural Salt replenishes electrolytes and helps to balance the body’s pH"

This stuffs great on pretty much everything. Loaded with all the minerals you need that are stripped from our soil.

Get the extra virgin oil that's in an opaque glass bottle that is still very fresh.

Meh. The Mayo Clinic doesn't seem to think it's poison. They even refer to the amount of minerals in sea salt as "insignificant." This saltsucks.com info seems like more scare tactics to make people buy a particular product.
