It has been a taboo since eons ago for bodybuilders to be linked to homosexual activities.

I have heard in the States with guys involved in "gay for pay" or "escort" services but I seldom see gay guys competing.

I will be competing in my country this coming February and I am really feeling the pressure and stress both work and family and sometimes it does get frustrating because my gay buddies are not really understanding the pain and emotional tortures I have succumbed myself to.

Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it to give up all things just to pursue my dream and my passion.

I am even wondering if one day I will meet that Mr Right who loves bodybuilding as much as I do...

Sorry just need an outlet to vent out... this board is quite peaceful.. dun feel insecure in coming out here. Thanks a lot bros.

You should never give up your dreams for anything or anyone, because if you do you will always regret not pursuing your dreams/passions and as such you will end up resenting the reason that made you give up on your dreams/passion in th efirst place.

Regarding finding Mr Right, there's just as many gays in bodybuilding as in any other walks of life, so there is no reason for you to feel that you won't find a gay partner that is also into bodybuilding as much as you are.

About gay for pay, what is really sad about it is that most of the guys doing it are not even gay, they are only doing it for the money and that's wrong. I mean if they were gay and doing it that would be cool for them in the same way as a straight guy getting paid to have sex with women. But for a straight guy to have sex with other guys for money is as bad as a gay guy being made to have sex with women for money.
There's nothing worse that someone selling out their self esteem for money.

EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT GAY, I THINK I GET WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

I HAVE HAD GIRL FRIENDS WHO WERE INITIALLY ATTRACTED TO ME BUT LATER WERE IRRITATED BY THE FACT THAT I 'WORKED OUT' ALL THE TIME! IF FACT, ONE OF THEM WOULD SCHEDULE 'THINGS WE COULD DO TOGETHER' (PICNICS, WALKS, ETC) AT PRECISELY THE TIME I NORMALLY WENT TO THE GYM. SHE WANTED TO PUT ME IN A POSITION WHERE I WAS FORCED TO CHOOSE BETWEEN HER AND WHAT I LOVED DOING (LIFTING). THIS WAS USUALLY SPUR OF THE MOMENT AND NOT SOMETHING PLANNED IN ADVANCE SO I COULD LIFT EARLIER IN THE DAY OR PLAN ON THAT DAY OFF. NEEDLESS TO SAY THOSE RELATIONSHIPS DON'T WORKOUT UNLESS YOU GIVE UP BEING WHO YOU ARE. I WASN'T WILLING TO DO THAT, REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT I AM NOT A WORLD CLASS BODYBUILDER! :)

Yea, I've heard the whole "gay" thing a lot too. IMO it's like this...a lot of bodybuilders are good lookin' dudes (no I'm not gay), and they have shaved, tan bodies. Therefore, it brings on the stereotype. It's dumb if you ask me. just shows their ignorance.

If your gay your gay, and if people dont like it fuck em, Your goal in life should be the pursuit of happiness, not pleasing other people or making them happy,

That was well said Big A!

Well, I personally don't like homosexuality, but I also don't/won't put up with anyone judging me, or telling me how to live, so I can't do that to anyone else either. Like BigA said, persue your dreams. But I would say, only do it if you truly believe that you have what it takes to achieve your goals. If your goal is to become a world class, or professional competitor and you really believe that you can achieve that, then don't let anyone, or anything get in your way. Be honest with yourself though. If you don't have that certain something to be one of the planet's best, then why spend your life trying to achieve something that's impossible? There's persuing a dream and then there's persuing a fantasy. Ask yourself which you are doing. Don't isolate yourself, or throw away good relationships unless you are pretty sure the end result will be worth it.

It's all about balance. Like I said, if you believe you have a bright future in competitive bodybuilding then you should stick with it. But, if you are losing relationships and torturing yourself just to remain an amateure competitor, then really, what's the point?

Find a mate who will compromise and also be willing to compromise yourself. That's really what it's all about.

well i have to disagree a little with you BBJ. even if he dosent have a world class physique to become the next pro, if BB makes him happy then so be it. wether being the worst amateur or the best pro, whatever makes YOU happy you must do.

see its all the same, if you are strait or gay you have to deal with the same things with your partners.. lol

good luck bro,

todd

Looks like a lot of good advice to me!

Honesty is always the best policy. Be honest with yourself, be honest with others. Then just let the chips fall. You can control only your thoughts and actions. It then up to the other person to determine their course of action in a relationship.

It has been proven that 98% of people who disagree with me are wrong and the other 2% aren't right. :p

A suggestion

You sound depressed. You may consider taking all corn out of your diet, its amazing how much maltodextrin, corn syrup, etc can mess with your hormones, it produces massive estrogen in both men and women and is going to eventually lead to something more serious. Estrogen production is the LAST thing you want! Have you ever tried liver flushing? I know this may sound all wierd but its amazing how this holistic health works.

unfortunately.....

in my opionion bodybuilding is a activity of suffering, its not a very fun thing to do prepping for contests, u make so many sacrifices that others take for granted on a daily basis but thats what makes u who u r and different from everyone else. yes the gay for pay thing is just as bad as women sleeping with male judges and so on. The one thing that I have learned in my life is when u find a passion then go for it. U may lose certain "friends" because of yur choice but then u know how much that friendship meant to them. They may not understand what ur doing or why u r giving things in yur life up, but the true friends will be there through thick and thin, and not judge u. If u love it do it, if it makes u happy go lift some weights, u cannot make everyone is this lifetime happy just do ur best.
gooey

Thanks all... this means a lot to me.. preparation for the competition is quite tiring.. my mood swings are getting frequent and everyday my trainer(who is national champion) will perform scriptures on me...do abs, abs, abs....

Lots of great sentences mentioned here and I will put in my web journal.

Wish me luck.. 4 more weeks to go..
