I have always had a problem with positioning my arms just right in the hammer strength and or incline press (free weight). I guess this counts for db's also. My tris are pretty big my shoulders are good and my chest average. I know this is becuase of incorrect positioning of my arms and incorporating tris when they should not be. I am aware of the exhaust proir method but this situation I stongly believe has to do with positioning. Any suggestion???

Thank you.

make sure your back is arched, chest high, shoulders tucked/back. i like to use a grip that places the arms at a 90' angle when bent. prolly already knew this but just try'n to help

Elbow position plays a key role in chest movements. But so does concentrating on the muscle and moving in the desired plane of motion. With incline it may be a case of too much incline (too steep). About 30 degrees is all you need to hit upper pectoral region. Bar should come down to about the collar bone with elbows under the bar. With d/bells the bells should also be lowered in line with your collar bone and the inside plae of each bell into the armpit, or there about. As you press upward with bells coverge into the centre. This will allow your elbows to come together more forcing a better contraction of the chest. But it has as much to do with focusing your concentration on the muscle being trained. Not just getting under the bar and pressing.

Positioning the hands on shoulders level helps me feeling the chest. Too wide will get involved the shoulders, too narrow the triceps.
