I find it tough to get a good night sleep anymore. I used to sleep on my stomach with one leg bent. Now that I'm sleeping in a different bed (on my own again lol) my feet hang over the ends (bed too short) putting pressure on my knees. I was also told this position is hard on your lower back with regards to synovial fluid <--- is this BS or what??? So I guess thats out the window just for the discomfort on my knees

I can't sleep on my sides (been like this for the past coupld of years) with my size its very uncomfortable and I end up cutting of circulation to my arms and they fall asleep

My last resort is being flat on my back. Probably the best for you, but its hard to stay in that positon for long as I get a huge kink in my neck !!

Meds knock me out, but I hurt like a mother when I get up because of the positions I end up in

What is the best for recovery???...obviously a good night sleep is necessary.

Any others dealing with this issue?

Yes! I'd say get a really good mattress and a pillow from a chiropractor. I attribute to some of my shoulder problems from sleeping on my stomach with my shoulder above my head. It's not easy, but with a really good bed and pillow, you can sleep on your back comfortably. Now my only problem is my newfound snoring. My wife is now starting to sleep on the couch.

ive been on sleepin meds for years, remeron works wonders for me

but for your back try, to put a pillow between ur knees while u sleep, helps align the spine

This may or may not apply but the the body utilizes oxygen much more efficiently when on the stomach rather than the back.

I haven't seen any studies on this but I lift now and then with a buddy that is a anesthesiologist and he told me that. And I figure that he would know something like that. he is fun to lift with we end up getting so riled up debating nutrition and lifting. Its the classic text book vs. in the trenches experience.

I recently bought a pillow designed for pregnant women
this may help you
