I am looking to buy a smith machine. Ebay, Craigslist..

I do not mind getting used. I want something stable however, so looking into commercial ones. Can you guys suggest any? Budget is 1-2K. Lesser the better ofcourse.

I've always liked the cybex Smith. It actually allows you to go all the way to the floor and I believe they are straight up and down where a lot are angled. Looks like shipping is going to get you pretty bad. Check into ironmaster, I've never used one but they look nice for home gym and have a lot of attachments and versatile.

I bought that exact cybex smith last year (black paint) for my basement gym. I think I paid around $1200 on ebay and it was delivered disassembled. I then paid a local moving company to move it into the basement and they even helped set it up.

Obviously it depends on what is out there but I have seen that same smith on craigslist for as low as $500. Don't just check your immediate area but also check places within a couple hours from you. If you are willing to drive you can save a lot of money. If you dont have a truck uhauls are cheap enough where you can still come out ahead.
Also one of the tricks I've learned is on craigslist is to search using different key words. For example if searching for a smith use gym, gym equipment, weights, smith machine, power rack. If you are too specific you can miss stuff. I've learned most stuff listed is by people who have no clue what they have and will use the wrong name.

I have about $50k in equipment in my home gym I bought at that link and GOVDEALS.COM. Why buy new JUNK when you can buy a used top shelf piece?

You should be able to score a really high end used smith on one of the above sites for under $1k for sure and really I wouldn't go over $500 personally. Also there are truck shipping services you can get a quote before you bid. I brought in stuff from all over the US.

My gym has the same Cybex Smith Machine that you linked, it's been there as long as I've been going(12 years) and still works great despite the owners poor maintenance and upkeep of equipment.

Cybex is a nice brand. I like Hammer Strength real well too.

I love the hammer strength one and I think you can find one that fits your budget... Also looking around your local area might make it easier on the cost of shipping.

Yes there are shipping services that will pick up. You just have to ask the seller before you bid. Most will let you ship it no prob.
