SWAP UP TIME

a few years back me and my friends started this thing called swap up after christmas.

basically we made a list of presents that we got that we either didnt want or wouldnt use. rather than just waste something that could have been put to good use by someone else, we would either swap or trade them off with someone else that could make use of it. I thoguht this would work well on here as its extended to a larger audience

I really hate the thought of getting something then having it just sit there and not be used.

Its probably easier for you guys in the US as you frequent the boards more than us EU/UK guys but just wondered if any one though i would be good so we could all put a list of suff we got that we wont use on here then PM the relevant memeber to see what they could want to trade off for it?

obviously keeping it legal of course.

I got a imitation bonsai tree that looks cool, it's up for trade though. Will treade for cd's & dvd's.

Why not just return it to the store for something you actually want? And you wouldn't be limited by what other people have. Your buddies might have a bunch of useless junk too.

because the consumer laws in the uk indicate you must have proof of purchase to take it back. and because our sales happen straight after christmas a lot of the stuff thats bought for you is then in the sale and cant be taken back unless its actually damaged goods. in which case you'll only get a voucher to spend on something else in the store of the now reduced value of the product in the sale. a lot of the time its quite hard to turn to family or friends and say "yeah thanks for the present, do you have the receipt by the way". so in order not to insult the ones that are sensitive, this creates an altogether more feasible situation.

plus you dont just swap it for something you dont want i.e. useless junk. you ask what they have first...................????

Ok, sorry about that bro. It's totally different over there then. Here, you can pretty much return stuff even without a receipt if it's around x-mas time. And lots of stores even give gift receipts to go along with gifts so the person can return it without hassle.

Just wear the socks man. They're gonna get crusty like all the rest anyways.

Faulty goods = Full refund no matter what BS they give you.

faulty goods can only be refunded to the full value if you can prove it was purchased in that store. otherwise they can only give you a credit note.

Take the credit note. There are some stores here that will give you an in-store -credit, if u do not have the receipt.

I was given a movie for xmas, one that I already had, and returned it to Wal-mart... not sure if it even came from Wal-mart, but they gave me a credit and I bought some Sirloin steaks
