I will post this in female forum as well, but thought i would ask hear as well. I have a female friend who wants a little help with losing some weight. Cardio and diet are pretty good after a month of working with her. Just needs a little extra push. Stimulants are out because she hates how they make her feel, and she takes meds for high blood pressure. I was wondering if T3 would be ok to take with her meds. I believe enderal and hydorcholorthizide are the medications. One of them is a beta blocker and other is water pill. Anyone with any knowledge on this, I would appreciate your 2 cents.

First I would give the nutrition, cardio and training more time before considering short cuts. I doubt anyone here knows the interaction of the meds you mention. Tell her she did not get into her current shape in 30 days so please just enjoy the new lifestyle and see where she is in 60 and 90 days from now. She will be surprised. Heck her cloths will be falling off her by then. Time give it more time.

To my knowledge their isn't an Interaction on paper, but I wouldn't try to play doctor with it. Possibly suggest she see's an Endocrinologist to see to get her TSH/t3/t4 tested to get a doctors opinion if she would even benefit much from more t3.

Blood Panel

I will post this in female forum as well, but thought i would ask hear as well. I have a female friend who wants a little help with losing some weight. Cardio and diet are pretty good after a month of working with her. Just needs a little extra push. Stimulants are out because she hates how they make her feel, and she takes meds for high blood pressure. I was wondering if T3 would be ok to take with her meds. I would be extremely careful without having proper baseline results from a TSH full blood panel. Diet and cardio are the safest bet. T-3 is not as common as T-4 supplementation, but has been used successfully to increase energy and reduce risk of heart disease associated with low T-3 levels. Those with deficient T-3 levels usually have trouble converting T-4 into the active T-3 hormone. Proper conversion of T-4 to T-3 is essential. Many physicians believe that proper use of T-4, such as Synthroid, is sufficient to regulate T-3 conversion. However, if her metabolic system has trouble removing the 1 iodine molecule from T-4, thus creating T-3, she may feel somewhat bad or tired all of the time. Therefore, assuming she has a T-3 issue, supplementation will more than likely bump her metabolism and general feeling of wellness and may return her weight to normal genetic levels. Female thryroid issues seem to be more and more prevalent now than historically. JMHO

Blood Pressure

Last thought: High BP is a classic sign of T-3 issues. How old is she? I only ask because if she is younger an ace inhibitor may also help her feel more energetic. I do agree with the above comment regarding not playing DR.

She is 24 years old and does complain about being lethargic and not having energy. Good responses guys.

I just want to say again. Work on complete nutrition. Dont be afraid of carbs plenty to work with. At 24 she might just need to get her system used to the new lifestyle?
