I trained under Phil for 2 years and in that time I learned more about myself, bodybuilding, nutrition, training, supplements then I did in my 20+ years of training previous to that. Because of what I learned from Phil I was able to start my own business training other people, so it turned out to be a very wise investment. As far as my physique I feel like I made dramatic improvments under Phil. Every contest that I competed in under his prep I got better each time. For the sake of my development I am experimenting with some other things, not because I think they are better methods then Phil's but to give myself a real life understanding of how these effect me and how I could possibly use these on clients in the future. I consider Phil Hernon as my mentor and myself "Phil Hernon Certified" and in my training of Clients today, my training method is heavily influenced by all I learned from Phil.
In closing I think of all the great benefits that I got from training under Phil non was better then in Phil the friend that I got for life. I know that I can pick up the phone at anytime and Phil would help me with anything and I hope he knows that I would do the same for him.
I would highly recommend you choose Phil as your trainer but this is very important, look at the big picture. Don't think of things like is this guy going to get me peeled? or big as a house? If you are willing to take the punishment, any trainer can beat you half to death and starve, cycle, and suffer you into striations but what then? What did you learn? How can you use this for the rest of your life? There are only a few that are willing to teach you and Phil is a teacher to those that want to learn.
like the old saying "give the man a fish and feed him for the day but teach him to fish and feed him for a lifetime".
