Time on = Time off - A theory or science behind it?

What are the opinions of the time off needed between cycles? I cannot help but want to plan the next, and the next, and for fun the one after that. I've read differing views on receptor cleansing and such, but wondered what others felt. I am on HRT so I know my levels will never go back to normal and this may affect my time off that is needed since I am not shooting for full recovery. I have always thought time on should equal time off but wonder what others actually think.

many people do it for different reasons.

some for toxicity of the gear they just took, some for receptor site cleansing, some for the recovery of nuts etc... so time to rest depends on your goals and health.

personally if i've run a decent size cycle, like say a prolonged test amount to keep a decent anabolic environment up (20 weeks +) then i'll have at least 3 months off. not only does this give me time to recover but it helps me get to know my body a bit more. i can see from my time off even with pct, how much size i've put on and how much i'll keep.

i havent done small cycle lengths for a while but used to do the same thing with time on = time off but now i go with the feel of my body rather than setting time scales and dates as everyones different.

it took time to get used to what i'm feeling out for but its helped me a hell of a lot more
 
What exactly is the difference between a 10 week cycle and a 20 week cycle?

At the end of the 10 weeks youre gonna be shutdown regardless, so what is another
10 weeks?

If HCG is used since the beginning and thruout the entire cycle and the boys dont atrophy at all, is there much difference between a 10 week or 20 week cycle and then taking the next 20 weeks off to fully recover?

And what exactly is "fully recovering" ? Would that be perfectly in-range normal blood work?

What if 1 month after your PCT you get blood work and everything comes back perfect, would that be "permission" to start another cycle?

In my opinion time off = time on is bogus and has no science behind it...Say you stayed on for 2 years...are you now to take 2 years off?

I can remember hearing that from the Older guys when I first was getting started. Ive never seen any science to it. I think its just something thats passed down.
 
I thought awhile back I read that the whole time on/off philosophy had more to do with orals originally????
......then carried into the whole AAS spectrum as a standard....

I don't know if there is any accuracy to that though. Just wondered if anyoe else heard naything similar.

I agree with this and gridlocks post saying cycles are to do with goals.

Ronnie Colmans goals would not be the same as someone who is doing the sport for fun or just to look good at the beach. If you know what I am trying to say.;)
 
How about this...time off = your bloodwork is normal and everythign is working properly. for someone who has been on year round it might take 6 months to a year to get everything back to normal, and a guy that does 8 week blasts with short esters may be back on track in 2-3 weeks. the only way to know if you have recovered is go get checked out.

That's right. It's an old school method with no science behind it. It's just rule of thumb.

This was my understanding also. you never want to go more than 6-8 weeks with an oral and at least that much time off for liver toxicity which injectibles hinder liver values less??? thats what ive read anyway.
 
I think it's a good rule of thumb to keep new guys from killing themselves. Better to have some kind of rule set up until you can figure things out for yourself.

usally if i do a 4 week blast cycle id take 3-4 weeks off...after an 8-12 week cycle...8-12 weeks off..if ive been on 4-12 or more months...ill just go off for 3 months usually

now here's a good question...what's the BEST way...regardless of health...to make MAXIMUM gains...in terms of off time, on time...we're not talking about diet/exercise, sleep, all those basics etc..just on and off time...say for a serious competitior..is being on ALL the time really the best way?
 
Blast and cruise if your on hrt double your test 3-4 months add some other goodies in with it then back to hrt 3-4 months. personally no orals.
 
There are a lot of myths and theories that people take as gospel, especially about gear or just bodybuilding in general. If you can't show me the results of a controlled study then the jury is still out IMO. For example, I've always heard that you should never mix oil and water based compounds, but that's just another myth. I keep an open mind about everything.
