This is frm Muscle Mayhem...it's Tom's response to their members.
"Thanks to everyone who said something kind and thoughtful. It's been a tough weekend.. but more so mentally than physically. My lungs cleared up by this morning (Sunday), so I'm fine now. Just getting some rest today.
I'm still planning on competing for the "biggest snowboarder on the mountain" award on March 13th of this year.
JIMBO's was dead on the money. Being "clean" for 7 months, and taking less, is not enough. My body simply cannot handle the combined stress of the training, dieting, cardio, and supp's.
Flex Wheeler told me that would be the case (because it was what happened to him). But, I had to KNOW, for myself. I needed to have some closure. I didn't want to look back in 20 years and say: "What if I could have done just one more?" Now I have a definitive answer.. and it is "NO".
But, even knowing the ultimate result, I'm glad I did it. I can handle pulling out for health complication. I couldn't handle not trying and being a quitter.
Now I get to enjoy RETIREMENT.. "
