I love training them on differant days. It makes leg days not so bad and I can work out an extra day. I am a person that like to be in the gym 6 days a week so it is nice for me. Plus I don't get so damn sore and I can walk the next day. I would suggest you to try it and if you don't like it switch back!
The benefit is having enough energy to train hamstrings with a concerted effort rather then just going through the motions. When I would train quads and hams together I would either not train my quads as hard so that I could have something left for hams or I would not train hams hard. Now I can blast my quads and then stumble out of the gym and then destroy my hams in another workout.
i used to do that and i loved it but i pulled a hamstring and have not trained hamstrings very hard the past few months. i think i will start training them on different days again i had the best growth of my legs then. you are alot less tired that way. tank..
I train that way right now but I'm about to start training both in 1 day, b/c i feel that my body needs an additional day of rest to regroup and recoop.
I switch back and forth every 6 months to a year. Some exercises are better for each method. Walking lunges and step ups are great for quads and hams together. They transition really well from quads to hams. As posted above stiff legs are great for a back and hams day apart from quads. Try it, I'm sure you won't get smaller and you can always go back.
