treadmill or stepmill

With the bike, I feel you won't pedal at a steady pace, with the elliptical, same situation. With the treadmill and stepmill though, you are forced to keep up with the belt...... therefore I am guessing those two choices are the best for cardio training. My question to you folks is this, which of these two machines do you prefer and why????
 
I like a seated bike , set the resistance up kinda high and it has a digital read out that shows the RPMs , I get my heart rate up much faster and can keep it very consistant on the bike thing.

The eliptical trainers I've used make me use realy short little strides and after about 20 min makes my knees sore and the treadmill just doesn't do shit for me unless I run on it and if I'm gonna run its gonna be on the street.
 
Depends on what type of cardio. For low impact/long duration I like to walk on an incline on the treadmill. For interval training, due to the ease of speed increase, i like the elipticals or the stair-stepper.
