No Sure if I'm permitted to post a link to another site, but I found this article on Nutrigenomics pretty fascinating and thought I'd share it with you guys.
**broken link removed**
Read it, you wont be sorry.
It is also quite relevant to todays athlete - the author (John Berardi) says that his ahtletes can give him a cheek swab. He can then have them genetically profiled. Based on this genetic information, he can then make a specific nutrition & supplement plan which optimizes health/performance while decreasing risk of certain diseases. You could determine which foods have the greatest anti-oxidant effects for you personally, which foods you digest best, which sources of protein you most readily assimilate etc etc. very interesting stuff...and very relevant to bodybuilding.
Presumably, this would also work with drugs, whereby based on your genetic profile you could determine which drugs/combination of drugs you respond to the best and you could create your cycles accordingly. It could also mean you would know which drugs you respond to in terms of certain side effects also.
There are names of a few companies out there offering genetic profiling and subsequent nutrition advice but I dont know how reputable they are.
At the very least, it backs up what bodybuilders have known for years (that everyone responds differently to certain food/drugs) and brings us closer to determining exactly what will work for each individual.
Any thoughts??
