I know that seated dumbbell shoulder press hits the anterior AND side delts, but what part mostly gets hit? The anterior? The side?

equally

i feel it equally in both front and sides when i do them. why not pre-exhaust by supersetting side laterals followed by seated db press....i love to do that.

My workouts have been AWESOME lately. I'm just trying to bring up my side delts and am thinking of putting seated dumbbell shoulder press back into my routine.

its a great exercise..as tom said tho..pre-exhausting them with side lateral raises is a good way to go..

Side mostly, some front. The whole delt contracts so its hard to say where its being worked the most. The posterior delt is getting the least stimulation.

This question was on my personal training test a year or so ago ;)

more side than front, but still some front stuff gets hit...I feel like if I do the old Arnold presses I can really tax my side delts

Side delt development

For me delts are a strong point, its my skinny chicken legs that i have the problem with...lol... anywho, my favorite combination of exercises that i rotate DC style are a barbell shoulder press, dumbell shoulder press and lateral raises. after talking wiht dusty alittle along with a few other guys over at IM the solution for me wasnt the exercises. i just picked my favorite ones to do, it was the set/rep scheme used along with constant progression. first i dropped the weight and got into the 25-30 rep range rest paused, then working the log book to get the weights up to a semi-respectable number the magic happened. now im no big buy by any means but rate of development doing this given my genetics and the fact that ive remained natural since beginning DC has been outstanding compared to previous methods.

agreed, mostly side with a little front. of course it depends on where your elbows are - if you point your elbows in front with palms toward you, then you get mostly front delt
