Kind of off topic, but we all shop for groceries...
During our stay in Seattle we made many visits to the Whole Foods Market in Bellevue. WoW I love that store. They have said one is coming to our home town but it hasn't happened yet :(
We shop at a beatiful Albertsons market that has a great selection of organics, excellent meat /eafood and produce sections.
But damn; that Whole Foods is the best.

Yea i was there yesterday; it kicks ass

It is awesome. But some people I know call it "whole check" :D

hahahahaha! Yeah those places the price goes up. I am a value shopper and usually eat the same things but they taste good to me.:D

Sun Harvest Farms stores in Austin are very comparable to the Whole Foods Markets but were not as expensive....... I know there were a couple in other cities.

very expensive and is organic really worth it? how organic and "pure" can a food be if it is grown next to a farm that uses "conventional" methods of farming? there's gotta be at least some carryover of non organic compounds into the organic farm through the runoff from irrigation and airborne chemicals

Exactly what I think.. I can see if it's some little local market or farm-stand cuz that's what I'd think of as "organic", or whatever that really means.. But Whole Foods is now this huge corporation just like any other big supermarket, and even tho some of the food is organic, I think it's just this big ploy to charge more for food..

Heading there right now to get several pounds of grass-fed ground beef for tacos and a thai spicy beef salad I make during the week.

i definitely argree. its always marketed as more healthy for you, but it still has to go through basically the same amount of processing/handling/shipping that regular food goes through and that isn't a specialized process just for organic food so in the end, it probably ends up as a wash between organic and non-organic in terms of what is better. the difference being thatone is significantly more expensive

Its just the same, its another way to rip you off advesrtising is organic,at the end why they dont sell Raw Milk,is still paster milk and goes to the same process, wait til you see the next documentary that is coming soon, very shocking
Food ,INC
Filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that's been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government's regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment.

The girls who work in the whole foods market are hot, too. Except for the "too organic" ones with dreads and tie dyed clothes, but even they can be cute sometimes

Thanks, I'll be looking for that!

Its just too expensive. We went Sunday after going to our regular market because the fish did not look to good. Line caught Coho Salmon was $13.99 a pound, and Red Snapper filets were $18.99 a lb. It was $108 and I could of carried the stuff out in my pocket.

I am going to start buying and roasting more whole fish from the farmers market.

Brick: When you lived in the ATL area did you ever go to The Dekalb Farmers Market? That place is unbelievable for seafood.

From what I recall, whole foods isn't all organic either, a lot of the items are just "natural" which has an even looser definition. I find that local organic markets are better to shop at. Hippie stores i call them :D

Not been there, but I love fish big time. Maybe I was an otter in a previous life? Sometimes I like to just float around in the kelp and crack clams on my chest with a rock :D My behavior made me suspect.
