Wild Hog Tacos

I like in Texas so Wild Hogs are everywhere. I prepare them in a crook pot for at least 8 hours. (the longer the better tasting)

1 Can of enchilada sauce (get in your Latin/HISPANIC food isle)
chop lettuce or cabbage
Dice fresh tomatoes
shredded cheese
salsa
corn or whole wheat tortillas
spice to you taste.

I take the back straps and a can of the enchilada sauce, spices and put them is the slow cooker in the morning before work.

When I get home I shred the meat with two forks, heat the tortillas over the stove and fill them up.

However you can do this with any meat you like.

Yes, most around here will process hogs. There is a place that makes great brots and breakfast sausage. They can put in jalapenos and cheddar (my fav) or whatever you want in them. as you know there are so many of them and most just go to waste.

Is wild hog a greasy meat? We don't have wild hog out here just javelinas and you have to dr that up to make it good

Not at all. They are very lean since they are in the wild.

Can you buy that meat from a farm or website? Or do you have to just kill it yourself? I have a website I get wild game from, but they dont carry hog.

I have seen it for sell at the place(s) I get my deer/hog processed. But I haven't seen it in like a grocery store. Good luck bro...

I love wild hog, both hunting them and eating them. Lean is right.
Hunting them with bow, pistol, rifle..........a blast every time!
