So friday i woke up and drank my collagen supplement on a empty stomach like always... i took a abnormally big gulp and that hurt my throat but then 2 seconds later my belly got this sharp shooting pain that lasted 10 sec...

the pain went away but ever since my stomach feels funny and i feel like I'm always trying to burp, I'm super gassy and bloated. i have the constant urge to burp.

Do you think i actually hurt something or did i just stretch something out??

anyone ever had this happen???

i know it sounds crazy but I'm little concerned bc it now sunday and i still feel it

this is sounds similar to what happen to me a few years back with GERDS, I was having no symptoms, then 1 day I was drinking a pre-workout and it was like my stomach rejected it and pushed it back up ( I did not throw up, it was not like that ) it hurt my esophagus to the point where it felt like I could not breath for a couple of seconds or so, then a couple of weeks later, I had GERDS hit me, felt bloated as hell, had chest pain, and my head was pounding, got an egd done which showed 2 inflammation spots in my stomach, took Prilosec for 10-12 months and it healed, I guess you could pop a couple of tums and see how that feels, is there anything you been taking that can cause you gi distress, I believe that I got the problem from using research chems suspended in grain alcohol.

Never heard of such a thing! Could you expand a bit on this... what is an oral collagen supplement?!?!

Either way, hope you're gonna heal fast. :)

This has happened to me before, twice to be exact.

I cant drink water on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Specially cold water. It will literally feel like someone stabbed me right in the stomach and like you described pain is VERY sharp and sudden.

what happened is somewhat normal...

if it continues....i would go get checked out
as could be the beginning of hiatal hernia (which
i seriously doubt)

but i stressed my diapharm once on leg presses..
3 days later, this happened everytime i would take
larger bite of food or liquid, for about a week.

This happens to me a lot, especially when eating peanut butter..
It's a contraction with the muscles and a mixture or air...

Try drinking the fluids at room temperature..

It's commonly know as a twitch in the esophagus and/or with the esophageal sphincter muscle..Much like getting a brain freeze from Ice-Cream, it's merely just a reaction as everything is sensitive on an empty stomach..Just take your time consuming man.

The urge to burp is just due to your predisposition with having gas/bloatation,It's simply just back flow with digestive acid..

If this continues most definitely make an appointment with your physician!

I hope you feel better bud

If I were you I would see a doctor ASAP and get some advice from them.

I can't believe people know how to inject themselves a drug, but don't know about basic nutrients like collagen
No wonder we don't pass 80 years old. And in an attempt to pass it, people take more drugs

You're absolutely right. And thats one more reason why everybody in this sport should at the very least know what is collagen, its types and how they interact in the body.

Members come here to share knowledge and to seek it. Since you're so disgusted, please enlighten everyone on the subject.

Sure... I'm a dummy that has never heard about collagen... or other so called "basic" nutrient for that matter...

Should I really reply... and nicely at that?

Ok, let's put it simple: you realize one of the markers used to assess the quality of a protein is precisely the level of collagen it contains... inversely proportional curve, meaning the higher collagen, the lower grade said protein is... that's why we find high levels in cheap chopped steaks the food industry sells to most fast food chains... since as a poor quality material, collagen is dirt cheap.

Now I myself have been guilty of consuming high levels of beef collagen, for I drank tons of LBA's 10 or so years ago... did I notice any real improvement connective tissue/joint wise, the main reason it's used for? Not really... HENCE WHY today I'm wondering why people would still keep using it, for I can't see any other substantial reason since it's such a low grade protein. :(

Used a some sort of filler by plastic surgeon I can see the benefits, sure, but orally my experience proved me it's everything but a "basic" nutrient.

I see DC and others believe in it and that's cool with me, but assuming, eaglecall, people are stupid for they're questioning the validity of something, is kinda arrogant... and btw, in all honesty, I don't think you could teach me many things about nutrition I don't already know... or have known at some point in my earlier days, cause true, I've forgotten plenty.

But I'll make sure to place my vote so that you get that Nobel Prize of Science you seem to think you deserve so much. :(

Hydro Collagen type 2 is the ONLY supplement proven to regenerate cartilage... if you are using collagen as a protein source in part of your diet, i don't believe it will do you any good... altho Emeric did post studies on how collagen protein was proven to be more anti catabolic with its higher amounts of proline an glycine for whatever reason.......

also, LBAs had a limited amount of hydro collagen type 2 in them....the studies I've seen that show it dose effective and needs atleast 5-10g a day over time... .... pubmed has numerous studies that have proven cartilage regeneration, as well as multipleeee studies showing it helped athletic joint pain...

My joints def feel better after a few weeks of using hydro collagen at 10g a day compared to not... i don't count it in my diet tho as protein or anything..

I have no answer for the stomach issue, i would see a doc...

Ive put too many posts on this board now (im not going to look them up) showing that Type 2 hydro collagen is VIRTUALLY the only supplement ever shown to regenerate cartilage.....with a couple outlier supplements....but really take about 4 days and delve into the literature and you will come out with Type 2 hydro collagen is the only supp shown to do this.....glucosamine and chrondroiton/MSM and other supplements have never shown this possible...only some minor pain relief.

I dont sell type 2 hydro collagen...so i have no skin in this game....but it is what it is and the studies are out there.

Noone here is saying use it to build muscle...but a large majority of bodybuilders have worn out knees and shoulders from 10-30 years of repetitive trauma.....and thats about the only compound that can reverse some of that damage.
